Game Programming Books

Game programming is such a huge topic, so is a book for almost every kind of developer and every kind of game. Because iOS games are the hottest new thing since the internet was invented, it seems every month there's a new book being released all about iOS game development, and with Apple updating the iOS development SDK so often, there are even multiple editions of the same book available simultaneously.

For Mac developers, the number of recent game programming books can be counted on one hand. Although the Mac has exploded in popularity in recent years, the amount of game programming books written specifically for Mac OS X is slim. Despite this, don't be too afraid to buy a book that isn't written specifically for Mac OS X. For the most part, the structure of and the processes the game goes through are virtually the same no matter what platform it is written for, so it's still possible to learn from a book targeting Windows developers. As long as you have a familiarity with the programming language being used in the book and can understand the concepts, you can apply what you read to your own code on the Mac.
