Carlos Camacho

Greetings,

I'd like to welcome all of you to dim3's new forum here at iDevGames. We hope that this new forum will benefit both dim3 and non-dim3 game developers in our community.

As requested by Brian (dim3's developer), the posts in the dim3 message board in our main forum will be locked. Although we don't have any plans to purge them, Brian will request that some of the best posts be moved to this new forum -- no doubt he'll need the support of all dim3 developers in this task!

In the near future, Brian and I would like to see some of the "senior" members amoungst you step up and volunteer to moderate this new forum.

Before you explore and start posting here, I'd like to ask that you take two minutes to read the following:

Posting Rules
http://www.idevgames.com/dim3/misc.php?a...ules&fid=6

How to get your post answered
http://www.idevgames.com/dim3/misc.php?a...ules&fid=7

Although this community has its own forum, we expect that all members remember the information in the above links so that the dim3 developer community can prosper and grow.

Please note that the software that drives this forum is different from our main forum (vBulletin.) Expect that not all features which you utilized in the main forum will be available here. We also regret that we were unable to transfer membership information, so we ask that you register.

Last but not least... I higly recommend that all of you visit both forums each day -- a good developer utilizes several tools for game development. Our main forum is also a great source of peer networking, contest information, design, etc.

Regards,

Why?

Dim3 board had much better quality posting since the last time this topic was brought up, and that has all been sorted out. Half the people that helped others in the previous board won't have enough time to visit three boards at the same time, and only helped with the dim3 thing as a passing topic.

Personally, I found iDevGames thanks to Dim3's forums, and I'm afraid people won't migrate to iDevGames when visiting Dim3's forums anymore Sad

Though, I do like the idea of a gallery forum, that was very cool over at otee's forums.

i'll tell you the truth: when i saw dim3's forum change, i got REALLY REALLY REALLY MAD!!! when i saw it was still idev games i got mad that they didn't just leave it the same!!! when i saw that they sepparated it into different sections i got REALLY REALLY HAPPY!!! Smile
why does my thing say dimy?

ccccc

darn, this is annoying, you can't type to little words or to many, i tryed to post a script back in the scripting section but it said that it was to long, i tried to post a attachment and it said you couldn't post that type :P

Carlos Camacho

> tryed to post a script back in the scripting section but it said that it was to long,
There is a limit of 7,000 characters per post. I thought that was enough for most normal posts. For your case, it is better to place the script on your server, and link to it here.

>i tried to post a attachment and it said you couldn't post that type
Attachments are OFF for now. I want to monitor the security of this forum for awhile before I allow attachments (as they pose security risks.)

>three boards at the same time
Three board? Which is the 3rd? For people who are very busy, might I recommend the RSS feeds.

socksy

Well, I go to more than three boards already. I go to iDevGames, Otee, iDevApps, Gusanos forums. I just assumed most of the people that go to iDevGames also go to iDevApps.

RSS feeds are horrible things with forums, in my opinion. They show the latest posts, no matter what particular part of the forum they are in, or thread. There is no way to disqualify read posts, and no quick way to answer to easy questions etc. I'm not going to become an RSS addict and get an RSS client anytime soon, so I'm stuck with Firefox and Safari RSS, both of which are pretty crap. RSS is only good for getting information for other services, such as the news section of a wiki, dashboard widgets, podcasts, screensavers, etc - in my opinion anyway.

Hey this is cool, a new forum, with subforums! Though, it's a shame that you need to re-register. All those posts gone! Wink I like that you mentioned the 'Save the Public Attacks' thing in teh forum posting rules. Smile

ccccc

good, more people are re-joining, i was afraid people wouldn't.

Now why would I not? I'm probably the most active member here. Lawl, checking the forum every 10 minutes while I'm on my computer.(Most of the day, yes geek.)

Yea, I also really like the new layout: categories specific to dim3. I'm excited to see what transpires here... can't wait until we get more members!
