dimwit Wrote:It took me a sec to gather it was a spaceship, maybe it's because the form is slightly different from the "standard" craft, so you have to take some time placing the new shape into some category. Price to pay for originality I suppose.

chainfist Wrote:LOL Cube extrusion

what's wrong with cube extrusion? most of my models are cube extrusion, and they're at least hobbyist level. I think the free human was even cube extrusion! cube extrusion is the quintessential method, and therefore, you are a quack. :P

Yes but not only that, it's hard to see what it is from a side view.
Could you show us an isometric view?
I can't.

HAHAHAHA!!!!

Looks good 'ghool.
I like it! I like the way you texture your ships to Smile.
Bueno. Now wait 'till i get some more free time off work and I'll finish my map that you might have seen in the support thread... or at least I'll finish that one room... Please everyone else post work. I'm waiting to see more models like that guy's who just posted about his game with the small team of developers...
Well I'd *like* to post some stuff, but I need the okay from...someone...first. And no, it's not INFESTED related.
Hovercraft, snow runners, not really sure what it is. I like it though.

Can't do that in wings Sad

That's what's so wonderful about Blender. If you look ove the things you don't need, you can do entirely crazy things.
extrude along axis:
press e.
right click.
press g.
press axis letter.
move mouse.

There is not a bevel, but you'll learn to model without it. My modeling skills progressed when I dropped bevel.

Smooth:
a few ways to do this.
1-(fake smooth) in the one of the edit palettes, there are two tan buttons, one says "Set Smooth" while the other says "Set Solid". press set smooth and it will look like the smooth preview mode in wings.
2-(subdiv smooth) This is a modifier called subdivision. this will make a shadow mesh of your old model with a subdivided model underneath. you can edit the shadow model till you click "apply"
3-(smooth) another modifier. I don't think it's much different from subdiv. I think subdiv just makes more polys by averaging, while this one smooths it out.

extract faces:
select said faces and hit "shift+d"
if you want it in its own model, proceed to press p and choose selected.

Bridge:
select the two faces.
press "F".
depending on what faces you have selected, the prompt will vary.

Combine:
menu<objects<join objects (or command + j)

separate:
select what you want to separate
press "P"
follow the prompt.
