I have made a model with clothes but how do I get them to deform?
Do I use a script, bone weights, or both?
I want there to be collisions and soft body physics.
help...
I boned everything normal and it looked fine for me.
A few sharp points here and there but you almost always have that.
Thats kind of hard to do though.
You CAN use weights, but you don't NEED to

. It will look fine either way.
Thanks, but does that work for a karate gi, what-with the way it's folded and all? And what about softbody physics and collisions?
Oh, ragdoll physics? REAL ragdoll physics aren't currently possible because its currently collision box collisions (Brian's writing per poly) but you can play animations when the character bumps into things, and it can end up looking very realistic

.
As for the close, animate them, weight them, whatever you want to

.
I don't think softbody physics are possible at this point. Or if ever. Thats also just not the way collisions work. Clothes and things can deform, but only in ways, pre-determined in the animator files.
Ok, so what about just the softboby physics for the clothes (ie: cape that blows wind, hair flowing as they run) that kind of physics.
ANIMATE it!

I recommend using weights to animate that type thing, but you don't have to.
For instance, walking animation make hair fly behind character, cape sway back and forth! Thats the way most games do it

.
Do you know how to use weights and bones and poses and animations?
If you make the clothes have a low number of vertices it makes it easier.
Thanks guys, you've been great!
