Interesting article/speculation:

It is a power PC processor. I see no reason why it couldn't work.

Would be sick to develop games in DIM and play on the PS3.

interesting, but it appears most of those posts are a year old. I figure the biggest problem would be the controls.
Yes, controls, otherwise that's awesome!
They have made engines for ps3 because of that 'discovery'. Called c4 engine.
But the adapting of the controls is a problem. Brian still has to allow joysticks to be used.
The cell has 2 or 4 out of 6 cores ppc i believe - so its not a PPC processor. Cell processors arn't designed to run complex operating systems. They are designed to be specifically written to tell each core what part of the program to take. My friend writes the compiler for the PS3 at sony. There are a few cell based blades out there running linux - but thery are for experimental and research use.

its a 1000 times easier for someone to port OS X to the Xbox360 then the PS3 - and it probably run faster as its closer in hardware to vanilla pc/mac motherboard design.

All the consoles have similar problems (not nearly as much as the PS3.) They are all PPC variants, but the chips in our computers are general purpose, the ones in the consoles are not. To make them run cooler or with better manufacturing costs they are missing a lot of logic for things like branch prediction, etc, which help modern pipelines. This is not a big deal because, as said before, they do more "known" tasks, instead of a generic set of tasks.

Interesting. It would be pretty neat to be able to play computer games with OS emulation on an Xbox 360 though.

Enjoy playing your games at 10 FPS.
