Full Version: Alien Interactive Games Projects (I have no freakin' idea where to post this)

Hi all,

I've been silent for way too long on the forum but I haven't sit (/sat... it's late in my country sorry :$) still.
I had a few projects that was supposed to work on but I was lagging (didn't know that was possible in real life lol) and busy with different stuff.
When I first posted here I had a few game ideas with the titles:
Project: Outbreak; Incoming (working title); Stratic Online and Line Of Fire. Well, it seems I can't stop getting ideas and I got some more:
Line Of Fire: Rage Unleashed (working title and is a further product of the original LoF), Rapi A' Toumna and a new idea. Read on to get some info about these games.

A few other ideas had crossed my mind like:
- a fighting game with DIM3. I mostly think of a 3D version of Killer Instinct but that would actually be stealing. Luckily I could always start from scratch or dive deep in my youth... Like about 7 to 10 years ago to fish out Bone Fighters.
- a race game based on little things from Need For Speed 2 and of course created with, as I think so anyway, the best idea and easy way to create fullfledged 3d games, DIM3. I don't have a clue how to name it yet but the vague idea for the game is there. A few things are creating characters that can go into the cars to make it more personal. I would probably add stuff that I used to do when I was bored and was playing NFS2.

Besides these ideas I am busy with these games described below.
- Line Of Fire: Rage Unleashed (DIM3). A third-person shooter with gameplay similar to Gears Of War. I just did not get my idea from GoW but from Resident Evil 4. I was inspired by the camera position which is over the shoulder and at the time I never even heard of GoW and that was more than a year ago. It is not just like a plain third-person shooter, there are elements of the platform genre in it too. Also I think I'm going to add elements from Soldat (look it up, is for Windows only though) but it won't be much I think. I've written some drafts for the storyline and when the final one is finished I will post it in this thread. But I can tell the story in big lines. You are a Bio-Enhanced Soldier Force’s Elite, or BSFE for short (a little EE here: BSFE actually should be ESF which could stand for Enhanced Soldier Force like the my first draft describes it but between the lines it stands for Enhanced Stick Figure. Just so you know). On a mission you are accidentally zapped into a dimension of a twisted future and must see to survive battles with your enemies. To do so you can get the aid from teammates, fire arms and energon fusion swords/blades which you'll need to beat the Crayden sent after you by your opponents. The Crayden are mystic creatures that can be summoned to attack your opponents. Energon Fusion blades/swords are the only thing that can harm them. You'll have to fight your way back to your own time and dimension if you play single player skirmishes which consists of tiers. The game is targeted for online multiplayer and the setting is dark while you fight for err... frags. More info will be planted in this thread later Wink

- Rapi A' Toumna: The Tournament. The what?! Rapi A' Toumna (pro.: Rah-pi ah toom-na) which basically explains that I have a lack of inspiration for a name. It means RAndom PIcked TOUrnaMent NAme. Random individuals have been invited in the most spoken but seemingly the most secret tournament in the universe based on earth called, Rapi A' Toumna. Rapi A'Toumna has always been a dream for warriors with the dream to become the ultimate warriors in the galaxy. But no-one has ever made it far enough to become the true Rapi A' Toumna King.
This year a new tournament has been set up and the stakes are higher then before. Fight for the king's crown or die trying!
Based on some stupid game I came up with when I had nothing to do and was bored as hell. I had a normal dice, some characters (8) which consisted of toys (:P), 10 (8 brown and 2 red) little strips of paper per character which supposed to be their lifespan, and a tournament schedule I made up on paper. I could explain it all but I will only do that if some of you get bored and want to try it out. By the way, do not get bored reading all this >:( Anyway back to the freakin' point, the original 5 year old idea has been through some evolvements and now it has more options that will be put into this game run in Flash. But the images will still be 3D. I just got to decript my old rules and stuff which are japanese for me on this moment. The game has been set for single player.

- ?? - ??. Cool name, huh? Well, let me ask you first if you ever played games that have something to do with the secrets of Umbrella Inc? Right, I know what you are thinking... What is he talking about? I'm talking about my favourite game-series called Resident Evil. For the people who know a bit about these games and especially part 1, 2, 3 and the Outbreak duology.Ever wondered what happened to the lost survivors or Raccoon City? They went berserk trying to fight their way out of the city of the dead. They didn't stop at nothing to get out of this wicked city, even if they had to kill other survivors. Based in old (and new!) parts of the Raccoon City region, Resident Evil: Corruption takes you back to the city limits and makes you experience a Resident Evil like never seen before. It's all about survival in this multiplayer survival horror. The game types are (for now) deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, objective and escape and there will be more. In every game you do not only fight your live opponents but you also have to withstand (did I spell it right?) the computercontrolled zombies, cerberi (zombie-dogs) and other pets, hunters, lickers, birds. And if that's not all you also have to stay away from enemy bosses running loose like Mr. X' (RE2), the Nemesis (RE3), William malformations (RE2) and Tyrants (RE1, 2 and 3). Will you live free or will you perish and walk around like an undead?
I'm going to keep the game simple but with enough details to create the same atmosphere as the original games or better. RE-fans can always help me and I am very open for ideas because I really want to make something new. I think Resident Evil: Corruption really can be something unseen in the Resident Evil franchise. And of course Resident Evil is created by Capcom, the first screens and and playable demo will be sent to them first before I even think of going public with them. I just hope they like my idea and since I can't sleep I will ask them right now :p

- Project: Outbreak, which will be a game set in the future but with human enemies or human mutants. I did not have aliens in mind yet but the idea is somewhere in my head but aliens or not there's is some involvement with a virus and parasites. It will be FPS focused on single player but it is possible to choose from the four different characters. More info might take a while to come because I have set the development for Project: Outbreak in the fridge for a while to defrost it when I have more time. Project: Outbreak will be run on the DIM3 Engine.

- Incoming (working title). Incoming is a game that adapts some ideas from my other project Stratic Online. Like it's a turn-based, third-person shooter. You are a rookie soldier who just has your first real assignment. It was not supposed to go wrong which assignments never supposed to but it just did. On your way to a space station your ship and teammates have stumbled on a big ship that has a weak signal. Your team decides to check the ship out and they are brought in normally but they don't see any humans. They decide to check everything out but then your teammates seem to disappear one by one and with your own eyes you see how a teammate is being attacked by something but you freeze of fear. When you try to escape you find out there is something very but then seriously very wrong. Now you find yourself in a nightmare which you have to escape from. This game contains aliens and other abominations as well as undeads. Because it will be game from the hand of Alien Interactive I had to put it here but it will not be powered by DIM3 but with flash. The like I said before the gameplay will almost be similar as my original Stratic Online (and that would run on PowerPoint XP (not compatible with Office 2004 for Mac... Stupid, I know) but because this one is for single player (at least for now) it will have a lot faster gameplay. Also this game has been put in the fridge.

I think I typed enough for now but more will be added to let you know how I progress with my games. Also the next posts will be much shorter, I promiss Wink

I actually tried a fighting game myself a little while back. I could never get the camera to behave right...
You can't really try to develop more than one serios game at a time. I have three projects, but I only ever work on one at a time. At the moment GC is considered on pause until a networking dim3 is out so I can run a beta test, Solid Security is similarly paused until dim3's networking can support it, although I occasionaly work on the modeling work for it. So right now all my effort is going to Mutant Island, a single player FPS adventure game which will hopefully require less work than a realism based online game like Solid Security and thus be availible sooner. Smile

If I tried to work on any two of my games, (or all three) I would never complete any of them. So it's better to pick an idea you really like, and just work on the idea itself. Once you have a concept that really sounds good, you go ahead and start. Personally, I would be interested in a 3rd person game like Oni, where you can use guns and hand to hand fighting and can knock weapons out of an opponents hand and vice versa. There's nothing quite like taking a pistol into combat in oni, then having the badguy kick it out of your hand, pick it up, and shoot you with it. It's also great to knock an enemy down, then whip out said pistol and gun him down where he lies. Smile

the reason is that i can't work on one project the whole time. my brain won't sit still :o how'd you think i came with the resident evil idea :o i am fan of RE and the parts i wanted to have in Line Of Fire: Rage Unleashed (LoF:RU) but couldn't because of storyline and other game bound limitations so i "gave" them to RE:C :p

btw: I also know exactly what your talking about. I finally gave up on restricting myself from starting different projects and started a quick christmas game (that will hopefully be out by christmas, though it will be an amazing feat to finish it in 5 days :P).
I still recommend trying not to start lots of projects though, every once in a while I feel like trying something different but once I get into what I'm doing I'm fine.
