Hey, I was going to make a quick game for the holidays. It was going to be "Grinch: The Game" (the grinch who stole christmas), do you think anyone would care if I distributed it online (for free)?
I don't want to get sued or something :P.
you've read my last thread and i was planning to make a Resident Evil. I've sent an email to Capcom Europe but havent got one back yet. but i also said that i wanted their permission for distrubuting the game online for free. i would even sent all work i made and want on the internet to them first to get permission for even that. but you can, like me, say it would be as fan art since you're not making money on it :o i think you should email them if you really want to be sure.
Just change the name of the game and the names of the characters and change some minor details and you should be fine.
That's what everyone's doing.

that would be my alternative too :p
That wouldn't work with a grinch game. Because the grinch is well, the GRINCH. You can't call him the Cinch, or the Pinch.....
how many scrooges do we have already? you don't have to give him a name that rhimes with the Grinch. call him Debo or whatever because the behaviour and stuff is more important then how he looks.
Honestly I don't think anyone would care much as long as you didn't make it something like Doom: Grinch Edition. Heh. That would be pretty cool.
I'll just go ahead and make it, I'm pretty sure no one will care even if they notice anyway.
i got an email back from capcom but i still don't know everything so for now i'll just leave it until get an reply back with the right answers i need. i'll let you all know

As for your game Yurlyn, I don't think they'll mind if you just emulate the gameplay and setting and stuff, but you might not want to actually use the RE name.
