Can someone make me a list of some of the different types of computer animation used nowadays?(i.e. motion capture, low-poly) I'm doing a speech on said subject and I would like to cover as much ground as possible so I can get a decent grade.

Could anyone please help?
What exactly do you mean?
Animation techniques? Modeling techniques? Rendering techniques?

Animation techniques would be things like skeletal animation, inverse kinematics, morphs, motion capturing etc.
Modeling would include things like converting high poly models to low poly models with normal maps etc.
Rendering would include Global Illumination and the like.

What exactly is this speech about?
Model Technique - Box Modelling:
Box modelling is making a model using at least 2 pictures of drawings. One from the front angle and one from the side, both have no perspective so they are drawn like some views modelling programs can show.
You actually drag your vertices/vertexes over your drawing and make your shape. For example, if you drag a vertex/vertice of a plane (not an airplane but a square) to the side in front view you just mess up your plane. If you look from the side-view you won't see anything because you are looking to the side of an 2D object. Now if you select the moved vertex from the front view and keep it selected and then go to the side view, the vertex can now be moved in the Z-axis (that is if you have the front view on looking at the Y and X axis). Moving the vertex/vertice in the Z-axis gives you the start of a 3D object. Of course, you would need to make additional vertexes/vertices and move them all to their desired possitions to create your full 3D model.
That might be useful for the Dim3 Animator but I don't know.
hey you're right :p never about that :p
