I have a character model I am trying to UV Map, but Art Of Illusion does not unfold/unwrap, so I went to Blender for this stage. My problem is that either faces overlap so I cannot texture them separately, or it divides into "mesh groups", and there is a small space filled with hundreds of groups of 1-3 faces that correspond to who-knows-where on the model. Any Ideas?
manually unwrap.

in blender, go into the uv mapping mode and then select small peices that make sense as one uv chunk and that look as though they wouldn't overlap. then go into the interface for uv placement/painting and press... I think it's "E" (I haven't done enough UV mapping lately)

It takes a while before you're good at it though... but mediocrity is just a click away! Smile

In case my description wasn't clear enough (I'm not an official terms person) your setup should look like this:

Try this:
Select the edges around different sections of the model that should be mapped separately (or just the edges that it don't need to be connected). Then it's E or control-E mark seam/cut (I think, if I'm wrong google it, haven't UV'd for a while. If I was doing it I'd remember....).

When your done select all and unwrap, that should work Wink.
This should be moved to modelling help.
THX, Dimwit, cccc, big help. Adios, Mabeeba!
