I was side-tracked for a little while working on something that's a favorite pass-time of mine -- computer generated maps. I have a new auto-generator that's simpler to setup and makes very nice maps. Nowhere near what humans could do ... within any stretch of the imagination ... but getting near playable multiplayer maps.

Now I'm back to proper things. I'm working right along on the mesh stuff -- I know I have some bugs from the last beta but each of those points are being touched by the new code, so I'll probably just re-break them, anyway Smile

Right now I'm reworking the editor views so they can support the mesh. First attempt will just have meshes as segments before meshes take over everything. I've changed plans a bit and decide to move this forward and work on editor as I can get any farther without it.

Hopefully something to test in the coming weeks. I was originally going to put out a intern version, but that's a lot of work and I should probably just plow ahead with what I've got.

Sounds good! Dim3 needs that sort of stuff.
I AM SO WANTING THIS NEW VERSION! Brian you are the best programmer a game engine ever had, I can't wait to see how it all looks!
Oh boy! I just hope it doesn't make maps harder to make. Smile

The opposite should be the case. I hope. [Image: shock.gif]
Awesome! Can't wait to try it Smile.
Yar! I can'ath not wait the vast's amount of time that stand between me and the new mesh system! Oh woe is me, What ever shall I do? Smile
I can't wait!
Getting there -- have both Editor and Engine bootstrapped into the new mesh map format and I'm taking the time to make sure Editor's views are as cross-platform as possible. I also have it properly translating the older map format into the newer one.

Not much works as a game engine, but the code is actually simplified in a number of places. A lot of progress is being made, it'll just be a long slog. Smile

I'm thinking about "breaking" points where I'll drop a VERY alpha version to test certain points before I go to far. For instance, maybe a beta Editor to test how well old maps translate up and if the new editor is up to snuff (I'll probably post some screens when I get farther.)

And I just ordered a new mac -- yes, one of the 8-core ones. Smile Now all the Intel-Only bugs will be a lot easier to fix!

Make sure you keep testing dim3 on the old macs as well though (speed) Wink.
Can't wait Smile!!
