Could you build in that, if I import a model with multiple materials, and choose the same bitmap file for some of them, these materials will be merged?

A merge function has been on my list for a long time, but it just keeps getting pushes back. If you check out the XML (back it up first!) it's relatively easy to figure out a cut-n-paste way to achieve that manually.

Problem has been solved. I found out a way to sort by materials in Blender.
