This is a 2d graphics design thread. Do not post anything that is not related to the art posted here or the thread's purpose.

Those who post their art:
Please except criticism graciously and do not be offended by other's opinions. What you think about your personal art is really more important then what others think unless the art is intended for others.

Commenters:
Try not to be too harsh but don't overly praise everything either. Be honest. Say what you really think but be diplomatic. Smile

Let's begin:

Here is a background for a 2d side-scroller that I was making.
The image is too big, has too high definition and loads too slowly.

Cool, try either fixing the sharp edges or making the whole thing like a cartoon. (just a little) Some of it looks realistic and some looks fake, go one way or the other Wink.
It is really good though!
Thanks, it's supposed to look that way.

Edit: You're right, it should be one or the other.
What I mean is it's like half cartoon and half realistic....
But it's good, better than most 2s scrollers I've seen Wink. (not that I see alot....)
What is the stone in front supposed to be? Cause I can't tell how it fits with the background.
Does 2D Art also include 3D renders?
I mean renders with a real scene, lighting setup, camera angles etc., not just a render of an untextured model on a black background of course. Smile
As long as it is 2d graphics based and doesn't center on 3d models or that kind of thing. I'll let you know if something doesn't fit.

What rocks are you talking about, the ones on the edge or the ones closer to the screen?
Okay, well not rocks, I just meant the dirt path in the front. Doesn't really fit well along it's outlines.
You're right, of course. My excuse is that I was testing out a couple of styles while doing it.
This thread seems a little empty, so I'm going to post something.

This is a room I made for an adventure game that I might or might not finish. I'm not sure yet.

EDIT: Removed the pic I had posted first because it looked crappy. :P
