Well i want to create an online multiplayer game where users accross the ocean can play aswell. The game i want to create is based on pirates and pillaging the seven sea's. I was wondering if this would be possible with Dim3.

The game would be played with a birdseye view of the ship and the water. (Possible or not?)

Heres some features i would want to include.

- A ingame money system (where you can buy ships, cannons, and other stuff)
- A chat system to communicate with other players online
- Server Moderators
- A guild system
- NCP ships that you can sink and gain money
- Hitpoints system

those are some aspects i will need...is it possible?

You can do this easily, do you know how to code? If not try my tutorial: http://www.idevgames.com/dim3/showthread...3#pid30213

That's built in to networking. Smile

Quote:- Server Moderators
I'm not sure if it's currently possible, if it's not I'm sure it will be added soon.

Quote:- A guild system
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this. It's probably possible.

Quote:- NCP ships that you can sink and gain money
Of course it's possible!

Quote:- Hitpoints system
Yes, of course!

Welcome to the forum. Smile
a) Wrong forum. This is not an editor question.
b) It is currently NOT possible to create an MMORPG (which I think is what youre trying to do) in Dim3.
c) Making a multiplayer game like that is very, very hard and I would not recommend doing it as a beginner.
I don't know how experienced you are, but for a game like that, you need a huge team, a lot of time and, most importantly, a giant amount of money.
Start simple. Smile

Well in the game i want to make a guild would be like a bunch of players united sort of on a team. And you can join different guilds and stuff. And your guild mates can help you out and so on.

Also sounds good. And how would i go about making the game Sort of 2d like a birdseye view. and so on?

And sorry i posted this in the wrong area..if someone could move it to it's correct spot then thanks. I posted in the wrong area do to the fact i was in a hurry. Thanks for understanding.
The guilds thing might work through multiplayer teams....

I really don't recommend trying to make a mmorpg as your first game either though. You need alot of money for servers, I mean ALOT. And then you need ALOT of players. It will hard to get enough players if this is the first game you ever make. Wink
Are you sure you couldn't atleast scale it down to 16 or 32 players? in example: The players group into a few teams which will fight to gain territory, whoever owns the most points on the map when the time limits up wins, or if they capture all the points they win. Or a Capture the Flag game where you try to capture the enemies flag, in this case their treasure. Or both....

There are alot of possibilities for smaller online games, look at Team Fortress 2, it has all kinds of options and things you can do and only uses around 32 players per game.

Well i read through alot of threads and i realize how hard it will be. And i was thinking of starting with a few players. Get the game started and build it's quality until i feel i have a good thing here and expand it. but i want it like a game where they make an account and keep building on there account.
I think such an idea has much potential...... But it is indeed wise to start small; I've been working with dim3 for a little under 2 years now, and I still haven't managed to create anything truly worthwhile yet. Takes a very high amount of time and patience.... But keep at it, and you're sure to overcome!
Moved to showcase.
