I understand the basics of course, I mean how to create an UV map in general for a part of the model. Now I want to go on and create a new UV texture for a different part of the model.
But as soon as I select a subsection of my model and create UV texture it *overwrites my first one*. How in hell do I create a new UV texture along with a new material?

Possible in Blender, NOT possible in Wings 3D. AFAIK.
You're wrong. You can do it. Create multiple materials, apply them to faces, then select the faces associated with one material and rightclick -> uv map -> direct.
Okay, 2 updates.
1. The reason it overwrites your old one is probably a naming thing. If your UV is still named ObjectName_AUV or something like that (haven't used wings in months) the new one will take the same name. If you rename it, it should work.

2. To merge a face back together, just select the faces and hit your delete/backspace key (the one above \). This should work.

Tried that, just makes all the uv-ed pieces part of the same UV map.
This annoys me as well, I have tried lots of ways but the only thing that works for me is splitting the different parts of model apart, texturing them and then combining them together (which is still bad because there is a giant rip in my model Sad!!)
Well like I said, it only works in Blender as far as I know. You can find tutorials for it on the internet. Don't rip the model apart though, either make the whole thing one UV and one texture, or use Blender.

I don't see why you're having so much trouble here. It worked fine for me.
Tell me how then, I did exactly what was suggested, and it didn't work. Everytime I create a texture for one UV map, it puts it on the others too, and it doesn't make two UV maps either.
Well? Did this work?
