As a test, I'm making a couple simple OBJs for the start of a "library" of objects for the mesh version. I can actually launch Wings3D, so that's a good start Smile

The objects I generate aren't UV mapped. Is there a quick and dirty option to UV map them (it does NOT matter if the UV map is bad, broken, or worse, I just need it for the import. This is only a test.)

Well, create the UV map in Wings, export, open in PS. Fill with a color, use Inner Glow, Outer Glow or Drop Shadow (distance: 0) with a darker color. Then you can later see the polys and gives it a more detail feel. I then added a pattern texture linked here.

That's how I did it with my last two Alien ships.
Would you happen to need a simple, octagonal pillar that has a really bad UV map and comes with a free made-in-30-seconds texture that consists of a photoshop filter background with a picture of Kabuto from Naruto Shippuuden Episode 51-52 pasted onto it? :P
Brian -- go into object mode, right click->uv map->forced segment (delete previous). Then go into face mode in the uv window and select all. Rightclick->Segment By->Projection. Then Rightclick->Continue->Project Normal (or unwrap). Finally, right click on the uv map that appears and hit 'create texture'. Click OK on the dialogue box and the UV is set. If you want to edit that texture just go to the materials window and select the texture, rightclick->export.

Certainly, the more test files the better, just mail it to me.

Perfect, thanks teh1ghool, that'll get me going to test the library stuff in Editor.
