So... I was bored today and wrote a little game in TNT Basic. <--- horrible

You are the last surviving human in a city full of zombies and have to collect supply packages.

Read the read me file. Seriously.
Written in less than 4 hours and with only 398 lines of code, this is probably my first finished game project ever. Smile

Discuss: Bad 2D games, Zombies, why I should stop making games, why it's 6:35 AM and I'm still up after playing Resident Evil 4 all night. Sad
lol, I made it all the way to 260 zombies before I figured out how health worked! (at which point I began hurtling myself into zombies because I thought you had to stay still in order to be damaged) This game is too easy...
Actually, it's kind of fun. If you could fire at the hoards of zombies it would be neat, as you couldn't kill them all, but you could slow them down. I like the idea, and I thought it worked well, even for 2D square blocks. Smile

Discussion:

Zombies annoy me though, I think the idea of shooting lots of infected people is not so good. In the "Zombie" games I will eventually make, the zombies will not be infected people, they will be something else. However, I love the zombie formula of lots of baddies with plenty of weapons and ammo, or lots of baddies with scary locations and not so plentyful ammo.

You shouldn't stop making games, but you should release the work of your unfinished projects to the public. Smile

Also, go to bed before you break your computer keyboard with your head. Wink
Definition of zombies = infected people. Living dead. Those who were once human but were altered by viral contact. :\
Who cares about the definition? You can have "Zombies" that aren't people, and aren't technically zombies, but are still zombies.

I should probably change the player<->zombie collision. Right now, they have to be at exactly the same positions and that makes it
easy to get through a horde of zombies with pretty much no damage at all. I also found 2 other bugs that need to be fixed and I might add
walking diagonally (thanks teh1ghool for the tip). Smile

Not quite. It doesn't always have to be a virus and they don't have to be living dead.
For example: The zombies in 28 days/weeks later are considered Zombies, even though they were never dead. Just infected with some weird disease by other zombies.
The only things that define a zombie are:
Only basic insticts remain, and this can be spread to other humans through contact of blood, saliva or sometimes even through air.
The most dangerous zombies are those who remember how to run/jump/fire a weapon. :P

Edit:
Another example: The "zombies" in Resident Evil 4 are not zombies because:
a) They think and work as a group and can even talk
b) They don't transfer the "disease" to other humans
The whole 'zombie apocolypse' theme is kinda popular right now. I've never been particurally interested, although the idea of a last stand against the hordes is somewhat attractive.

Fun game, for being so simple. Smile
Reminds me of some of the super hard marathon maps where you just stand up against as many enemies as possible as long as you can. If I remember correctly, bubsconces5ion made a good one. :P

I might have to check those out, I LOVE defense maps like that. Smile
Maybe you should make it so that when you get a supply package, the zombies go slightly faster.
