Hello fellow dimmers. I am posting this thread to notify you all that I will be out for a while, maybe quite a while. My problem is that, this morning, a large blast of lightning took out our power. However, the lightning didn't stop there, it also burned out my PowerMac G4, my Xbox 360, my DSL Modem, my Printer, and some other things. So now am posting threads from a library computer.
The good news is that the printer was replaced, at no cost, and a new DSL modem is on the way, and our power is back on, and the process for repairing the Xbox 360 is underway. The bad news is that my computer is still out, and the only thing I have to use for it, is a power supply unit. Hopefully if I replace the power supply unit, my computer will be back in business. Problem is, I was selling the power supply on eBay, and I'm not sure if eBay allows the canceling of posted items. :|
That's all for now, I'll keep you guys posted about what happens.
Thats too bad. I hate it when I don't have access to the internet.
By the way, I like your avatar! Awesome cat!
Hahaha/ That's why in lighting storms you unplug all electrical devices unless you have a special fuse system built into it. I am thinking about putting one on my computer next winter. By the way -- it's been 100° here for the past two days. No rain! Hah
Damn, well that sucks. Man... so disconnected... how do you survive. :p
As for the computer, you were always one to back up your files right?
Yeah you should of unplugged everything. Unless of course by 'morning' you mean 2AM and you were in bed.

Yes I was always one to backup, my external HD has my files on it. Also, I replaced the Power Supply Unit on my computer, and now it's up and working, with some weird USB problems, but it's okay. I have a repair box on the way for the Xbox 360, and a new DSL modem on the way as well.

Heh. Yes I would have unplugged my computer IF I had been awake, unfortunetaly, it happened just a bit after I woke up, so I didn't really have a chance. I didn't even know there WAS a storm going on until I heard the lightning.
Hopefully I'll have my networking back up some time next week, so that's a good thing.

What? You can hear lightning? O_o
Yes, of course you can... lightning causes thunder, much like you stepping on paper makes a paper-crinkling noise. Someone hearing the paper could easily say, "I can hear someone stepping on paper," instead of, "I hear paper."
Yeah. Either way, not being able to check sites, research things, and keep in contact with gamers is still a pain.

You can hear the thunder, but not the lightning. (Except if the lightning is
really close to you probably.
