i can't save the things that i've done.
i can't open the 'dim3 Engine'

how is this possible?

Welcome to the forum, ukahwuka.

Did you copy the contents of the .dmg to your harddrive?
The dmg can not be written on, so you have to copy everything to your harddrive to save maps or scripts.
Does the engine crash when you open it? Or does it give you any kind of warning or error?

what are contents and how do I copy them from the .DMG (?) to my harddrive?
*is the DMG the map called: dim3_v_2_2.dmg ?

**************

if I save, there comes a screen with this on it:
(the computer says thisSmile

"DIM3 COULD NOT SAVE MAP.

THE DISK MIGHT BE LOCKED OR A FOLDER MIGHT BE MISSING.

IF YOU ARE RUNNING DIM3 DIRECTLY FROM THE DMG FILE, THEN YOU NEED TO MOVE THE FILES TO YOUR HARDDRIVE (DMG'S ARE READ-ONLY)

please help me...... thanksSmile

Just create a folder anywhere you want (for example on the desktop).
Then select all the contents from the DMG (the volume that shows up when you double click dim3_v_2.2.dmg) and drag them to that folder.
You're done. Now everything should work fine.

I've created a folder on my desktop. (I call it 'Dim3 Savegames')
I've opened the DMG (dim3_v_2_2.dmg)
I've selected all the eh...things (contents?) in that DMG folder and dragged them to Dim3 Savegames.
I would save my work, then the computer said (again)...:

'dim3 could not save map. the disk might be locked or a folder might be missing.

.....Sad

OK, I created a step-by-step guide for you.

Step 1: Download the Dim3_v_2_2.dmg file from the website.
>Show<

Step 2: Double-click the dmg to mount it
>Show<

Step 3: Create a folder on your desktop called "Dim3_v_2_2"
>Show<

Step 4: Select all the files from the Dim3_v_2_2 disk image and drag them to the folder you created
>Show<

Step 5: You can now eject the disk image by clicking the eject icon next to it
>Show<

Step 6: Launch the Dim3 engine (or any of the tools) by doube-clicking on it's icon in the folder on your desktop
>Show<

Hope that helped. Smile
In the future please try to name your topics accordingly and I am pretty sure there are about 5+ similar topics to this which could have provided this answer. Just a heads up.

Oh, and run software update and update all your software, including your OS to 10.4.11, or whatever it is now.
Thank you! It works now :D
If you did not know all this, how did you install software before?
Someone who I once worked for teaching things about mac just put the pogram in the dock and each time it was opened it opened the DMG first. Caused a lot of problems but I showed the person how to avoid it. People just aren't very smart/logical sometimes.
