Like I said, the design was right, it just needed tweaking. Notice how you used the same spiralie thing? Smile

You guys, this is getting way off topic. Brian, could you split this topic into Imon's logos or something?
Yeah this conversation needs to be moved or deleted.

And thanks for the comments guys. Kyle and I have been doing a lot of work on these models. Smile

Or just not talk about the logo's at all.

The Shelves: top and third shelf - the texture on the edge is out of place, and im guessing that goes for the other side on 2 and 4.

the bin: Nice Smile

the warning light, also nice, but maybe add something to the texture to fake extra roundness on some of it.

strip light: make 2 textures- one on and one off. At the moment it has shadow behind the light bulb - but the bulb looks illuminated.

the shipping crate; maybe splash out a bit and make the supports in actual geometry, not just texture.

toolbox: looks ok, the handel seems a bit small for the size of the box, maybe add some more on the side, and one on the roll-open section at the front.

binbag: looks fine, maybe make the tied off bit at the top more prominant, maybe add a knot.
@ Mafoo:

Thanks for the crit, I'll get on that soon.

I agree with you on every point, except the shipping crate. Everything is in the geometry, it is actually fairly detailed, except the top, it was supposed to be flat with a different look to it, but Alex ran out of room on the UV map (lol). Does it look bad having the top the same as the sides?

Quote:Very ugly logo though.
Quote:His logo just needs some smoothness and color changes. Not a bad design though.

I agree with the need for smoothness, but I (and almost everyone I show it to) am very fond of it. The colors are staying, those are the Inspire! colors that we have been using for a long time, and any other colors wouldn't fit (in my opinion. I'm also not a big fan of the whole beveled look, most notably on the words "Inspire!" and "Media" in the last image. Your icon is very attractive though, I'll talk to some of the guys about using it, if that's okay with you. Smile

Go ahead and talk about it, I don't care that much. Just stay on topic when needed, but in between rounds of new screenshots, do what you will. I don't care that much, forums are for discussing.

Thanks for the crit everyone, I will start working on everything as soon as possible. I won't have any new screenies for a while (and when I do, they're just gonna be crap screenshots like these ones instead of good renders). I'm currently writing a program for Windows (sorry, lol) that allows you to import models, adjust a couple scene things, render it, place up to three logos on it, and then export it, so it might be a while until I finish that. I'm out of school for the summer though, so I plan on working on it alot when I'm not hanging out with my friends. Smile

It'd be a bit hard to pick out the specific posts and try to merge them into something coherent; if you guys want to start a brand new topic and put the logos back up, I can more easily go in and knock out the logo posts.

Ohno,
the last Logo with lens flair and all that stupid stuff was a joke.
Also the beveled "media" was a joke. I only made fun of patricks ugly "logo examples". Every single one was full of effects and other stuff but a Logo needs to look clean and easy. Effects are possible but they don't count as "Logo". They are mostly pixels and not vectors.

Go ahead and PM me your e-mail adress. I'll send you the logo and the lettering.
I recommend the lettering because of the copyright law. It's illegal to use existing fonts for your commercial "company". And the Inspire! font you saw on the logo is specially-designed for it. :P However, if you only want the icon just take it out of the document with any vector-program.

Oh! Thanks for the info, I didn't know that.

Heh, I didn't catch that. Wink

Sending email...now.

And I didn't know that either. Smile
Illegal? Thanks, does that count even if its a freeware/obscure font?
I think it's only illegal if the creator of the font defends the copyright, and if the license doesn't permit that kind of use. Not that anyone cares until you start a big company-when you do, you'll start getting sued for fonts you never used. Of course, I could be wrong. Don't sue me. >.>

Just make the letters yourself if your not sure, you don't have to make a whole font, just a few letters.
