Bink Wrote:It sure improves modern games a lot and only slows them down by about 20-40 FPS, depending on the scene complexity and the number of textures

i hate my computer, since it is the slowest mac there ever was, and a simple level in any dim3 game is about 5-20 FPS ( 20 being the fastest ). i dont really care, since im always used to jumpy games. it still gets anoying though Sad

The new stuff might actually be faster -- or slower -- it's hard to tell. I lost a lot of optimizations associated with portals but gained a number of things associated with meshes. It's possible -- depending on the map -- that it'll actually be faster. I also have some more OpenGL fast paths in there, but we'll see, I won't know until it goes into larger area testing.

i hope its faster, otherwise im probaly going to get 1 FPS Rolleyes .
my computer runs it fine, but my computer is also slow ( 500 megaherts )
anyway brian, anything you do for the engine is good Smile
Futilrevenge: What are your comp's specs?
specs?
^^

Technical specifications. Processor type, speed, how much RAM you have, type of graphics card, how much video memory is on your graphics card.

If you have a 500Mhz processor, you're probably running on an old G3.

Brian, could you add a third tab in Multiplayer Setup that lets a Host set the capture limit and time limit for CTF (1, 3, 5, 15 and 5 min, 10 min, 20 min, unlimited respectively). Also in that tab, the ability to set the kill limit and time limit for Deathmatch / Team Deathmatch games would be nice.

here it is:

Machine Model: PowerBook G4
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.1)
CPU Speed: 550 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
Memory: 768 MB
Bus Speed: 100 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.2.9f1
Would it be possible to add more redo and undo in editor and animator?
I agree with Grefuntor, that would be very helpful. Smile

Futilrevenge: I have one of those to, very slow. :| (I don't use it, I use an intel but it is very slow) The dim3 demo doesn't run slow though, just finder and other apps. Weird.
Oh yes. More undo/redo in the editor would be great.

Considering that the Dim3 demo uses the very baseline in terms of textures that's no surprise, ccccc. :P
