Blender isn't that hard, it seems really hard at first though.
*hint*read the readme
You could also use wings of course.
I wouldn't pay $0.01 for meshwork.

Of course it's possible to learn Blender, if you spend some time on it.
But why would you do that? Cinema 4D is easier to use AND has more features.
You can start modeling awesome stuff right away. That's what a good 3D app should be like.
If you want to do the really advanced stuff in C4D (scripting, thinking particles, etc.), you have to learn that too of course (and pay for the plug-ins), but doing the basic stuff that you need for game modeling is so much easier in C4D than in any other app.
C4D is worth far more than it costs, honestly. Smile
Maybe I did not clearly state what I meant to say. Saying something is better then something makes no sense. Better then what? Better for what? Better for who? Vista is better then XP, u know?

There are quite a few people out there successfully using Blender. On YouTube you will find far more Blender tutorials then C4D tuts. That's maybe because Blender is free and C4D is a German software that might not be too popular in the US. I'm just speculating.
I'd say that we game content creators, who rely on free software, need something free between Wings and Blender. Specifically dim3 content creators would need modelling features that are more advanced then Wings' but still accessable, i.e. Blender with all that animation, rendering, nonsense modelling, rigging, particle, fluid, composing, imaging crap out and in a non-insulting interface.

By the way, I do think that Wings is at least capable of character modelling suitable for dim3. It sucks for architecture stuff, but low poly character modelling and UVing - that works.

Now look at content creation web boards for next gen engines like Unreal 3. They all use Maya or XSI for modelling. Yeah sure, they all bought those. Yeah sure Adobe is f*ck*n drowning in money because every average Joe pays those f*ck*n 1K $. I've never noticed a Blender user there. Guess why.

Most of those people have jobs that pay well enough for them to actually purchase such software. I can model and texture a next gen model with Blender and Photoshop to be the SAME quality as one made in a high end 3D app. There's no trick involved. Yes, there are some things such as Zbrush that will heavily enhance my ability to make next gen art, and Zbrush is something I will probably have to buy at some point (note, most industry artist use Zbrush because it is the best at what it does). The primary difference between Max, Maya and Blender is the efficiency and speed through which content is created. Max and Blender are probably not that different at all in their sub-D modeling capabilities for example. A box is still a box, as long as I can move vertexes, I can model complex objects no matter what tool I use.

The primary problem with Blender is that it is far too complex in it's interface, and it's import and export options and compatibility are terrible.
All I require is a program that works to my satisfaction, nothing more, nothing less; I'd stick with Meshwork if it could do what I need. Loyalty to one program and only that program as opposed to others is, in my eyes, merely a matter of personal opinion. I personally never understood the whole Blender/Wings 3D debate; I say that is up to the programmer to use what they want, and if other people happen to disagree, or think the program they use is superior, that is their opinion, not fact.

Winblows is the only exception to this rule, in my opinion; I believe that all Winblows systems should be thrown into a pit and burned....

And bravo to you, Patrick, I could not have said it better myself; Meshwork is not even worth 0.00000000000000001 of 1 cent!
**not worth 2 kb of bandwith
I only use blender ( even though it is hard ) because for some reason, in wings i cant even create anything. theres no interface, or anything! so i personally hate wings.
( i hate blender too, but at least i can use it and make good models with it... ) (i agree that it has a horrible interface, but at least it has an interface)
You should read the Wings manual. (It's shorter than the Blender manual.)
oh god.. i feel so dumb... it turns out in wings, i had it on a two click mouse, and i was using a laptop.. i am so dumb... Rolleyes
