Brian, I have a couple of suggestions for the new version of Editor - I think I've seen some of these suggestions before, but thought I would make them here just in case I'm dreaming. (Apologies if this isn't the correct forum).
1 - Make "drag select" a way to select multiple items. For instance, when I create a really complicated primitive that I want to use multiple times (such as a door or a column), it's sometimes almost impossible to get every little piece selected and added to the primitive. And god forbid I should discover an error and need to make a change, because when I break apart the primitive, EVERY thing breaks apart and makes it almost impossible to make sure everything's selected and include back in the grouped primitive. So, ideally, from "top view", I would be able to drag select around a group of segments and they would all be selected and then I could select "group/make a primitive". [I think assigning to a group may address this, but I haven't used that feature much - drag select would be much easier.]
2 - "Copy" and "paste" would be wonderful additions! I love the duplicate function - I use it all the time, but it's quite frustrating when I'm duping something from one portal and then have to "send" to another portal. If the receiving portal is large, it can be quite cumbersome to have to adjust the view and drag that duped primitive where I want it to go. With copy and paste, theoretically, I would be able to copy and then paste wherever I happen to be working.
3 - Undo would also be wonderful. Right now, I try to save after every step I take so that if I need to undo I can just close without saving and then reopen.
4 - This one is probably more problematic to implement, but would be fantastic - diaglog window-controlled placement of segments and primitives. In other words, selecting "command-Y" would not only allow alteration of the physical characteristics, but also allow for hard positioning (x,y,z) of a point or segment. I've noticed that all that info is in the XML file, but it's not accessible from inside the editor from what I've seen.
Just for the record, I TOTALLY love what you're doing with this software and am so grateful for all your hard work. Hope these suggestions can help in some small way. :-)
