i know you are swamped with getting your most stable version of 2.2 out with the new rendering and all, and you probably already have this suggestion on your to-do list, but can you find time to update the graphics on the homepage.
from what i hear and see of the projects being developed, the visual quality has improved vastly, not to mention the changes to the ui's that you have made which are not reflected in the splash graphic of the old demo level.
if you indeed want to compete with torque and unity as you've stated before. the homepage visuals are the first line of attack. i know that it is a cosmetic task that hinders work on the 'engine' but in the interest of catching the eye of potential new dimmers it is an important task nonetheless.
good luck, and you are doing incredible work with this engine, considering it is just you, and you are still trying to support some of the slowest macs on the planet as you move forward.
