I am having quite a few troubles with using Animator. Some I am not sure if I am just expecting the wrong thing and some I suspect may be due to incompatibility with Blender. The main ones are these:
When I try to import an lwo object made in Blender, Animator crashes (dim3 Inspire can import the same files without crashing). Neither program will import my obj files and tell me they can only import OBJs with textures mapped to them (I have textures mapped to them in Blender). Am I missing something here or is it just that Blender and Animator don't play too nicely together?
The other main problem I'm having, is that when I try importing a model with more than one object in it, only one object gets imported. So I have to export all of the individual objects as separate files and piece them together in Inspire (or import them into Inspire, save them and piece them together in Animator). It's not supposed to be this difficult is it? Could someone show me the light??!
Thanks
1. i don't think it imports Iwo
2. umm, well :D, that works fine for me :D so i dunno...

Are you using Blender?
no
oh, and i meant that animator does NOT import Iwo, it imports .mesh .--whatever lightwaveis-- and .obj

.

Can you send me the file that crashes? My LWO importer has gotten very little use, so there could certainly be bugs. Let me look into that and then I can look into the other.

The problem with it talking about texture mapping is Animator makes models for games, and to be fast the only texture mapping it supports is UV mapping (this is true for all high end games.) If you have a texture but it's mapped in some other way (like cube or sphere, etc.), then it won't work.

Sure. I don't see an add attachment option to the "Send ggadwa an email" feature here and I don't see your address anywhere... So, what's the best way of doing that?

Actually, I added UV mapping in Blender. The same Blender file when exported as lwo has no problem with adding textures once in Animator, so I think it must be a different problem... And, uh, while I'm talking to the guy in charge... any chance of direct support for Blender files in the future? Like around Chirstmas time... It would be a nice present. But maybe there aren't too many dim3 users using Blender now?

As for the importing two models, you ahve to improt one, save it, make a new animator model, import it, open the first, make a new mesh, and INSERT (not import) the second one into that mesh.
no you don't, you can make to objects in one model like he was trying to :P.
if thats what he means :D.
