I've come up with a solution to gravity points (though it still would be useful). Would it be hard, Brian, to add a setting for the player to hit the end of a map (designated by certain portals) and transport to the other side? But here's the catch: They can see the other side seamlessly (or as seamless as the mapper can get it to look) and it acts like it's a continuation of the map. 4x4 Evolution uses this. It would be nice for simulating planets.
The Torque engine also has this feature.
It would be cool.

but it should have the ability to show what should be there, now THAT would be cool!
[EDIT] but then it would crash the game cause it would try to show the reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a reflection of a........
you'd have to optimize it if you did it that way :D.
the unseen is coming....
....or is it already here?
I don't know, I can't see it...
yea i know, thats really stupid, but i couldn't resist writing it :D.
(i wrote it cause it was ironic)
[EDIT] that IS the kind of thing that will happen in the game though, like your waiting for someone to invade then you turn around and they already have, i mean its called unseen for a reason

.
That's a good idea -- but you'd probably be restricted to square maps. I could just jump back until I found a portal, but if the portals aren't square crossing space in some areas would be faster then others.
i.e.,

Instead of:

Actually I did this but in 2D. Its a river where you can allways walk further.
bump
This would still be nice in the core, while looking back through topics.

But was it seamless?
If so... AWESOME!!! But enamys could suddenly appear out of no-where
