Starts at quarter past, freenode.net #idevgames-minicontest or #contest (probably former).

Theme is helicopters, any old code is allowed as long as anyone else can use it before the contest.

2 hours long!

No one can make a game in two hours. We've pretty much established that four hours is the bare minimum to have something playable. Feel free to try anyway, but I predict that you won't have any entries that do anything interesting.

I guess you're right, as can be seen here: http://www.zen22638.zen.co.uk/ben/Crappyone.zip

mine's ok but i had lots of code lying around for movement, so it was only the shooting that had to be done:

Wow. A multi level game and a level editor in 2 hours. Absolutely stunning.

The jets seem kind of cheap though. They seem to pop up without warning. ;)

These 'quick game contest' threads have lately all headed the same direction.

Halfway down the first page someone links to a game they did a year or more ago that took them months to complete and sarcastically claim they just made the game for the contest. Then the rest of the thread is filled with people sarcastically congratulating that poster.

Who knew 100 years ago our race was going to advance so astronomically far ahead.

Thats the way we do it, and always will be. :D

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist, and I haven't been following these contests enough to realise how un-original I was being.

1. People post their entries (half with zero-link on)
2. Someone jokingly posts full fledged game.
3. Some people take it seriously
4. Someone inevitably comments on earlier steps.
5. More comprehensive observational humor follows.
6. Repeat
7. Your head asplode.

How do I play unknown's game?

The copter falls downward and I can't get it back up... so I have to quit...
