hey, that's pretty awesome, thanks Danlab! Though most of them appear to be picitures of your website in different stages. I dunno how we would use that in a game ;)

I did not say all of them. I like some of them, like the monsters and "guss". I also added a ;) smiley.

It was neat to see how the Max Rally logo was laid out in Photoshop, starting from some initial sign image you found and liked. Thanks for that!

Lots to be studied here, peoples. :ninja:

Dan once, in a fit of overwhelming generosity, gave me new graphics for my game Hot Spot X and I learned a lot from studying what he did in the Photoshop files.

spim.jpg will prove very useful in probably all of my future projects. ;) :)

thanks dan.

Haha, time to insult myself. I looked at one of the pictures of his site, and i tried scrolling using the picture of the scroll bar, and then I realized. Right after that I tried closing the window using the picture of the screen instead of my actual Safari window. It was funny.

Perhaps this should go to the idev assets area?

Oh yeah, the huge idev asset area... <remembers the good old days when there was one... sigh>

@Najdorf: I believe the iDG assets will apparently be returning for the "Über Zone"...?

I was under the impression that the old assets were available for everyone, not just über-members. I certainly hope so.

why doesn't someone create an initiative to start their own mac-centric (or platform independent) asset zone? source code, media, etc. instead of just complaining about it.

Good point, and someone named Seth did: http://freaksw.com/idevgames/

You know, that's not a horrible idea. Instead of waiting and waiting and waiting for a wiki and an assets section, maybe we *should* put up a site to contain them. http://www.macgamedeveloper.com/ isn't taken. Anyone?

i started to make this one, but i dont have a lot of time to continue for now...

Wow, that's gorgeous, Dan! Any way we can make that website an OSS project while retaining the page look? i.e. avoiding the "whole page is a wiki" syndrome?

Dan: would you be interested in opening up that site for us to develop as a resource?

Where do we start? Is it possible to maintain a website using subversion? That is, the core code. Or perhaps the whole thing should simply be a wiki?

maaaaark
2005.11.14, 12:22 AM
i don't think it should be like a wiki or like cocoadev.com. thats me personally. i think a group of organizers can review/accept submissions from everyone else to keep things, well, organized. but i definitely think everyone should CONTRIBUTE.

oh, and dan, that site looks amazing :) cool name + cool site :D

A good thing would be a place to submit code, and people can make annotations and corrections. Ive got a bunch of useful code that could go there and im sure many other people do.

Agreed. I got this killer "Hello World". So where do we all go from here?

unknown

Ive been working on a hello world for the last few years, hopefully looking at maaaaaaarks source code will help be iron out some of the bugs in my code.

:p

Well I'm a bit clueless as to how you could do this without the use of a wiki. Honestly, doesn't that seem like the best approach in this situation?
