I've noticed that we seem to have a lot of people from around the world. I'm just curious to see from how far away this community brings us together. I'll start: I am from San Diego, California, and have lived in this general area all my life. Now how about you guys?

Go here (http://www.frappr.com/idevgames) for a more detailed look!
I've lived in Comstock Park, Michigan my whole life. It's a small postal district (too small to even be a town :() right outside of Grand Rapids.

Most people have a listing of where they live by their other info (like icon etc)

Many do, many put down joke locations. Besides, having a pole also lets you see the stats a lot better.

I don't know about Jon, but Andrew's most definitely right. I wouldn't class Great Britain as in Europe when given the chance.
I live somewhere in Oxfordshire, in err, New York. Perhaps.

Exactly - given the choice of Other or Europe always go for Other.

If the list was of geographical continents then Europe would have been the option.
However the appearance of United States in the list throws that concept out of the window and I happen to be British rather than European so that just left Other.

I meant it to be mainly as continents, but I included the US separately since I knew that's the country that would have the most members. Also, I was interested in knowing not just where people come from, but how many are outside the US.

If we're going to have UK/Europe issues then I would just like to press the view that Australia and New Zealand are separate countries.

The UK is technically a part of Europe, and I lumped New Zealand with Australia since they're in the same region. This is mainly by region, with the only exception being the US, since part of the point of this pole is to see how many people are from outside the US. I would have put every country there, but there's only 15 or so allowed options. ;)

Pardon my ignorance, but by "Other North America" do you intend to say "Canada?"
Last time I checked, North America has only two countries. Mexico is largely considered to be part of Central America.
Of course, I wouldn't expect an American to know. Seems you're hardly aware anything outside your borders exists at all.
All in good fun, chaps. All in good fun.

Though Switzerland is politically not in the European Union, it is part of the Schengen treaty, and geographically, it could hardly be located more in Europe than it is :p

But they did not implement the treaty yet. There are still lots of military forces guarding switzerland. They may usually not check for passports most of the time, but often people leaving switzerland are checked for the possession of narcotics.

Last I checked, Mexico is North America. It borders Central America, but I would hardly consider it Central America. Every where I've heard of which continent Mexico is in, it's always been in North America. Since I don't include Central America, I suppose it can be considered part of North America, since geologically North America tapers down into Central America and then suddenly widens into South America.

Following further research, I will eat humble pie and respectfully apologize. Not only Mexico, but ~10 other countries are included in North America.

This thread keeps showing up as unread all the time, so I thought I might as well post to it :)
Actually, I managed to finally get frappr to accept that my city exists. So, I urge everyone living in exotic locations (such as North America but NOT the USA) to sign up. http://www.frappr.com/idevgames

Since I'm moving to Buenos Aires in less then two months, and I've moved out of my apartment (stay at a friend), I voted South America and not Europe :P
But I'm actually from Sweden.

This may come in handy:
Interactive Map (http://mapa.buenosaires.gov.ar/sig/index.phtml) (open in Firefox, it doesn't work too well on Safari) You can enter street & number ("calle" & "altura"). Then, if you click on the leftmost tab at the top, "Datos de Parcela" (it has a little camera icon) you can then click on any place in the map to see a photograph of the front of the building at that location.
The third tab at the top, "Datos Útiles" shows useful info about the place you click. For instance, if you select "¿Qué Colectivos pasan?" it will show you which bus lines have stops there.
In the menu below "Mapa Interactivo", you can also select "Imágenes y fotografias" to see satellite or aerial photography (like Google Earth) (to go back, click again and select "No mostrar imágenes"
The third item in the main menu, "Seleccción de Información" lets you select which layers do you want to see on the map (hospitals, schools, restaurants, etc)
Official Buenos Aires City Portal (http://www.buenosaires.gov.ar/) (good for practicing your spanish)
English version of the above (not the exact same info, aimed mainly at tourists)
Web-cams (http://www.buenosaires.gov.ar/areas/obr_publicas/camaras/)

how interesting. Asia, with the more people by far than any other continent (except for africa, I'm not sure about that) has one person, when Australia and surrounding countries (don't kill me!) have at three.

China and India (both part of Asia) hold over half of the world's population all by themselves. China is like 1.4 billion and India is like just shy of a billion. Africa as a whole might be somewhere near a billion. The one iDevGamer in Asia is probably Carlos. Just think, he represents over half the world's population all by himself. Quite the overachiever. Go Carlos!
[edit] correction: India and China are over a *third* of the world's population, not half. Asia oceania is over half, which includes all the little countries and islands in the area. Although India and China together are expected to overtake the number one slot together by 2050.
