That's right, I promised I would do and I sure as hell started doing it.

It's a work in progress (as in I just started) but feel free to add comments , suggestions, rants, ...

Here's the first render:

Btw, should I do feets or just make the upper body?

he kinda looks... eggish
I thought his head was more like a sphere...

*goes off to find original photo*

Other than that, looks great!

Taxx,

Do a search here. I recall someone started a 3D model of CMD-R. No need to re-invent the wheel. I'm sure he still has the data and can export it for you. I would work on that.

Cheers

Exactly, I was the one who continued working on CMD-R. There was somebody else but he never finished it and disappeared from the forum.

I'm starting over with the model because I wasn't happy with the one I already had.

I know... he is Taxxodium (sounds like some Intel chip :p )

I think you should make his legs. I wish I could find that screenshot of the 3d model that the last person was working on. It was pretty spot on.

Cheers

The proportions aren't right, I think that should be the first hurdle.

I have lots of different versions of the graphic up here still: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~czec0035/udevgames/

A couple of specific things: The skull is too tall and too thin. The eyes need to stick out a lot more and be closer together. The eyes should be less than one eye-width apart as in the drawing, but are over one in the model. They should also be slightly rotated outwards towards the antennae.

After the proportions are right, there are a lot of subtleties to the head shape that need to be done to get it to a more professional look. I'm not saying it has to be as accurate as possible to the original drawing, but the little touches to the "chin" and "cheek bone" add a ton.

Oh, have you tried using metaballs for the brain? I think it'd be a good place for them.

Hope that helps,
-Jon

Yes, but before him, "someone" else worked on it. Completed him from what I saw. They just never handed over the data!

The person who worked on it previously was Chris Cockcroft, aka Roosterhouse. I don't think he's around anymore, though.

well, it can't hurt to make it again. Who knows if roosterhouse will ever come back to hand over the model, anyway?
