37 years old. WOW! I never imagined I would turn 37. But my mind is pretty young still. Though I'm not sure that is a good or bad thing. ;)
Yesterday I went to a French restaurant. Half-way through the meal, we realized that they had converted to a vegetarian menu. i.e. No nice meat or fish for the main course. What a bummer! Oh well, the in-laws paid for it.
My wife, using my Amazon Asssosiates ID ;), ordered an external battery pack for my iPod as a present. I'll need that for the long plane ride home. She also bought two books. Speaking of which, my flight will be on Aug 26th. Not too too far away.
I've been spending my days scanning all my vital books into PDF, so I don't simply through them out. (Shipping them is very $$$). Of course I'll need to get a large container to stuff my other gear into. I'm not sure if I should hang on to my DIY PC , and "Candy Apple Mac" (tower I built). Hmm... Maybe I'll just keep the Mac. :D
Sometime today I will need to post the scores of the Carlosvision contest. I also spoke to the proofer I hired for iDevGames and she is 1/2 way through the job of proofing our content. Once that is off the to-do list, I can work on getting iDg's main site rolling again.
Outside of that, I'm playing soccer here and there, buying gifs, and saying goodbye to the many people I met here. I was also picking vegetables in my father-in-laws fields the other day since he was sick. Maybe that was a "first" for me.
Quick story: A new electronics store opened up last week. They had a PentM Toshiba for $600, which is VERY cheap in Japan. I know you can get them for around that in the US. So I went to the store 5am to wait in line, as they had 10 in stock. There were already 100 people in front of me. By the time they opened, there wasa huge mob. But as Japanese do, everyone was polite and VERY BRITISH in their queing (spell?) So I get into the store, "Where is this model?" It turns out you have to buy something for at least $30. So I do. And then you get to spin a wheel. (Kind of like a game.) If the red ball comes out, you can buy it, other wise, tough luck!
Bottomline: I waited in line from 5ish to 10am for nothing! I was going to give that laptop to my wife. Boy I was really irrated. So much so, that after I left the store, I went to a soccer game (I was late of course). We were playing the BEST team in our state, but the score 0-0. I came on. One player made a wonderful cross. I came up, ready to smack it in, and become the hero, and the ball goes through my legs! The horror! What an unlucky day!
Anyways.. thanks for the shout-outs. Have a nice July 4th and pray for Portugal to go to the finals in the World Cup.
Cheers

Happy birthday dude!
Rather than throwing out your books, why not donate them to a local school/library/2nd hand bookshop/friend who likes reading?

A French vegetarian restaurant in Japan? That's the oddest thing I've ever heard!

See below about "drinks". I drank Ginger Ale. There are two types of ginger ale in this world I found out (if you leave North America, you will too.)
1) Canadian type (ie sweet)
2) Some alien created super bitter type
For some reason, if you don't buy ginger ale from a can, or bottle in Japan, and get it in a glass, the Japanese seem to think they can slip #2 without you noticing. Errrrr.... (My guess is that #2 is ONLY to be used to make cocktails)
>A French vegetarian restaurant in Japan?
Yes, it is as strange as having a US resturant not serve 10 pounds of food per person for ONLY $5.99. (My wife said during the dinner, "When I was in the US, the portions were toooo much and I noticed everyone throwing away so much food.")
>That's the oddest thing I've ever heard!
It was to me as well until yesterday. The killer was, I had a choice of:
1) All you can eat bread at a place we often go to, but is a but far away
2) the place we went yesterday (vege) but which is near to our home
Boy, did I goof up that one. But my wife blames herself for not realizing the change of menu. I think the worse part was 3 courses contained eggplant and I dislike it. At least dessert was good. Oh, I forgot to mention... I should have left at the start when I ordered wine.... "We don't serve alchohol here anymore." Ok, I said, then I'll have a beer. "Beer is also no longer served." I shouldn't have ignored the warning lights in my head at that point!
Monte, as an Aussie, you need to tell your government about this place and have them send over the embassy staff and clear up the confusion in the chefs head. They need some serious Aussie beef. (Speaking of which, Way to go Socceroos!!!!)
Oh how nice. I just heard that North Korea remembered my birthday and sent me 7 missiles.. sadly they all fell into the sea. Where is Damian and his Great Leader gags when I need him? I'm wondering if I should worry or just wait for TEAM AMERICA to show up and KICK ASS MAN. (that movie was a riot.)
I can't count on the Japanese government since the only thing they really did was to bar a North Korean cargo ship from docking for the next 6 months (umm... it only comes twice a year I think.) I think the US should broadcast American Idol into North Korea. That might settle things down.
Cheers,
