As I have many friends here, some who I update more often than others, I thought I'd update the community as to my endeavors and life.
I graduated from college in December and had been looking for a job for the past 6 months.
I finally landed a job at Timegate Studios (http://www.timegate.com) and started on the tail end of their latest game on June 27th.
Despite their Window (and console) programming platform (this is a really new experience for me and I'm holding onto this cat's tailcoat as tightly as possible), I won't ever lose my roots. I still do mac programming on the side whenever I'm not engrossed in World of Warcraft (yes this cocaine in disguise still has its grip on me, but I do play a lot less now).
I am happy to see the community still active and thriving.
Congrats skyhawk... best of luck!

Wow, that is super-duper cool Skyhawk! :D
Don't worry about losing your roots -- games are games and that's all that matters. It's great to see someone from iDG getting into the industry.

Well done on the job Skyhawk!
The good thing about working on console games full time is that it gives you practice in 'big game' project management (either doing it or seeing it in practice) and teaches you the value of a finished project. It also takes the pressure off making your Mac game as commercial as possible so you can do it as a hobby and write the games you want to write :)

Nice gig, how is Texas?

I've stayed a lurker for the past 2 years, but I had to comment! Congrats, skyhawk!
I'm living in Houston, too. Just graduated with my Masters in Music and am freelancing in Houston. Skyhawk: when you're settled we should get together for a drink. Any other Texans on the boards?

I'd say I'm in Texas too, but out here in El Paso we're treated as the ugly step-child of Texas. It's more like New Mexico here in reality. We're in a different time zone from the rest of the state actually (which means we get two hours less government services than the rest of the state if you think about it). Like fourteen hours from Houston. I'm closer to Denver and Los Angeles than Houston. Texas is a BIG state!
BTW, I thought SkyHawk had already been living in Houston all this time.
BTW2, I don't really like Texas all that much (except for the no income tax thing), but don't tell anyone...:sneaky: (Too bad too, because many of my friends live in Austin)

Congratulations, and good luck.
Working on bigger commercial projects is probably a good learning experience, seeing how things can be managed etc.
And yes, WoW is dangerously addictive.

YOU!
Apparently Sue Do* has been trying to get you to work at Timegate and I'm supposed to lure you in. Apparently you are on her myspace. ;)
1) Yes I've always lived in Texas. Timegate just happened to be located 7 miles from my house.
2) holy crap huge projects (insert emotions of being scared and lots of pressure).
*I'm really scared of making a sudo joke with her.

Congratulations! (Also, Carlos hits 999 posts.) Is there anything you can say about the project or is it all NDAd.

woah, timegate... that's big-time in a big way for you!
Also, I renamed 'world of warcraft' to simply 'world of warcrack'; it helps me avoid running it whenever I feel like it. It still has a hold on me, though... :sneaky:

Alex
a lot is NDA'd.
We're finishing up something that is scheduled to be released soon (but for some reason there is 0 announcements or information about it released). Once that is finished, we start on our Next Big Thing™ which is Section 8. There's a video on GameInformer.
