I need a copy of the latest 2.x version of Safari, because Apple doesn't offer the download anymore, and the 3.x beta won't install for whatever reason. Could someone please email me a copy of the app? srj15 <at> case <dot> edu.
Fortunately, most of my app recovery troubles are over.
Please reply if you send it so I don't get dupes.

Wow, I did my best, and in five minutes of searching could not find a 2x version of Safari at Apple. Maybe I just missed the obvious link or something, but I'm shocked. I don't believe it. It appears that they've actually replaced a fully functioning version with a BETA...
I'd send you a copy but I don't know what 3 did with 2.
I do know that 3 wouldn't work for me until I manually removed SafariPlus first.

Safari 3 hides Safari 2, so if you run the Safari 3 uninstaller, you'll get Safari 2 back.

sent.... I'm not sure if it's universal, but it's still safari and can get you up and running...
I recommend camino, or shiira, or firefox. or flock, or omniweb, or iCab, or lynx.

Yeah, Camino is my main browser. And I installed Safari 3 in the meantime, though I think I'll go back to 2 due to a couple of minor bugs.
Oh, and app received, thanks. Turns out I had to get a lot of other stuff too, like Calculator and DVD Player. Fortunately I was near a Mac-using friend.

If you want to test out new Safari 3 features, I'd recommend getting a nightly of WebKit (http://nightly.webkit.org/). WebKit co-exists much more friendily[?] with Safari. Or you can just get a WebKit build that matches whatever Safari 3 feature set you want.
Oh yeah, and if you're comfortable with SVN, I'd recommend checking out the webkit source, so you can always have the latest.

No, nightly of WebKit != Safari 3. It is simply Safari 2 with the Safari 3 core. You get the rendering engine, but not the Safari 3 features (like the find in page highlights, for instance).
Or at least that was the case last time I checked, a week or two ago. ;)
