Fashion Cents, our award-winning dress-up game for girls, has been ported to the Mac and will be released on November 9! In fact, this is a complete rewrite of the original game, which was a finalist in the 2004 IGF and was featured in the August 2005 issue of Parenting Magazine. The new version is cross-platform, and includes lots of new features and improvements over the original.

The trial version is available for some quick testing, and I would appreciate it if a few folks here could download it and give it a quick try.

Download from http://www.mygamecompany.com/dl/FashionCents.dmg

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone verified yet that the game works? It runs on my 2 dev machines here, but I don't know about other machines. I'm planning to release on Friday, so if there are any problems, I would like to know so I have time to fix them. Thanks!

BTW - the game is intended to run on 10.4 and up.

Seems to run on my machine here (10.5.0, Mac Pro, Radeon X1900). Didn't do any testing, I quit before my coworkers saw me playing dress-up games :p

Total girl's game! I don't recall ever seeing one before, much less playing one (I mean the game, not girls, I've seen girls before -- I think, well, that's what my girlfriend says anyway). What a strange experience... I'll bet it does really good sales though :D

Anyway, (mostly) works for me: Mac Mini Core Duo GMA950

The only thing that seems not to do its thing is cmd-q to quit. Doesn't quit (cmd-q) from either full screen or windowed mode.

Same thing on Dual G4 867 w/GeForce4 MX -- works fine but no cmd-q. This machine is 10.4 and the Mini was 10.5 BTW.

No problems here... Daughter played it fine on a 700 MHz G3 iBook under 10.4.10. She's 4, and couldn't understand why it wouldn't let her dress them the way she wanted, so maybe a "single doll, dress it as you like and save the result" option would add to the appeal?

Just a thought...

Thanks guys!

I wasn't aware of cmd-q, so I'll have to look into that. Guess SDL doesn't handle that automatically.

@allnodcoms: we have a design for a sandbox mode, but it didn't make the cut this time around without missing our release date. Maybe we'll add it in our next update. Several customers have asked for this feature in the past.

It worked well for me. The game was realistic- I was unable to determine what pants matched what shirt, just like in real life. (Actually, I was getting better at it in the game.. but I don't know how well my new matching skills will translate into real life)

Apparently you can mix white with other colors of clothes, but you can't wear a red item and a green item, for example.

Worked on 10.5 on my MacPro.
