View Full Version : Game idea
I feel like programming a game that doesn't require too many assets (art and levels), but that would be challenging to program in METAL Basic, and would sell a few shareware copies, anyone have an idea?

Even though from the way you said it you didn't want to use MetaL, I might be able to help with something else or find a way to do it in MetaL.

what about some kind of game that generates its levels at random, say some kind of maze game where it builds a new maze everytime...

Make a game based on vector graphics, thus you won't need to use external graphic images. Look at some of the classics from the arcades or get a Vectrex emulator.
Missle Command
Omega Race (GREAT game)
Berserk
Asteriods (done to death, but...)
BattleZone
Tempest

Make a game based on vector graphics[Ö]
Spectre Supreme X (I know it's just a prettier update to BattleZone :p )

Has anyone played Battle Girl(and/or the leaked alpha/beta of Hyper Girl)? It is vector based and a really fun shootemup, try it(even tho its old, and not OS X).

If you want to see a live example of a maze generator you could download SQ and Amazing by ededed (me) from the levels section.

*loved* Battle Girl. Great graphics, music, gameplay... I just wished it was friendlier to the gamepads I had.
So what was Hyper Girl and can it be found anywhere?

Pacman with GOOD AI. simple but hard. Of course I don't think anyone would buy it. I don't know of any good games that require very little assets. maybe a RTS version of chess?
