View Full Version : Escape done and for sale
The game is done (and has been for about 2 weeks), here is the download URL
http://nuclearnova.com/download/games/escape1.4.1.sit
Please register it, its costs as little as one cent, so money is not an issue. I haven't seen anyone from IDG register it yet.

8 people so far, at an average of $5 (one guy payed 3, another payed 10), BUT I realy screwed myself, the first release didn't have any shareware messages or messages saying "You are skipping levels", so the first 700 downloads only got me 1 register and a guys posting a comment saying he beet the game in an hour (he was talking about the demo), but on the next 1000 downloads after I fixed it I got 7 registers. On feb 1st (once my bandwidth resets) I am updating it on versiontracker(and other sites like that) and will hopefully get a bunch more dls and registers.
You don't have a credit card? Im 15 and I have 2 debit cards (there as good as a credit card on the net), one from Paypal and one from National City bank.

I have 2 bank cards and have had them since I was 8 but I never needed a credit card before. Carlos: Is there an iDevGames card yet:D ? I keep getting applications for them but I never payed any attantion to the before:( . 40$? With no shareware message? That's better than I thought, Matt thought that we might only get 50$ total for GC. Of course we want to get Ambrosia to publish it, It will be that good nobody has seen the space engine yet:D .

Not to be cynical but... I doubt it. :ninja:

I have to agree, Ambosia is a very strict publishing company. They might publish exodus though:D. I am interested in seeing your space engine because I have made an excellent one for exodus that will hopefully raise the standard for metal games.
Joseph, is you bank card a standard bank card, or a debit card (one that has a credit card number on it), if its a debit card you can use it to register escape.
I am realy interested in seeing these awsome engines (GC,Exodus), you guys keep talking about how awsome they are (mostly joseph), and I still havent seen any screenshots of eather.

I'm keeping it very closed so you'll not see screen shots or betas as often or at all for a while. As for bragging, I only tell the truth(biased:D).

QS: Right at the moment the GC tile engine is far more powerful than Coldstone and the Space engine is way more powerful than EVO, Once I John Escobedo(our pixel artist) to do some graphics, Matt to finish the storyline, and link the together it should be better than all of Ambrosias games, except EVN. The space engine does have one thing more than EVN though. It can have more than 32 frames of rotations. Actually it can have any number from 1 to 512, it draws the closest frame to the current angle so the rotation speed has nothing to do with the number of sprites. The tile engine is also now independant of 32*32 pixel movements, The screen smothely follows the player instead of doing jumpy 16 pixel movements. It won't be ready for Ambrosia to rate until well after 2.0 comes out(I think, as long as 2.0 comes out before september :D ) so I hope to take advantage of any new features in 2.0. It is currently better looking than Exodus(from my point of view;) ) seeing as I can't see Ex. 'til it's done. Any way good luck on Exodus. Maybe we should have a contest on who has the most regestered users after 1 year? How 'bout it?

The opposite with my point of view, but that's expected isn't it. lol. I'll have a trailer coming out probably a week or two after 2.0 is out so everyone will be able to see what has been preventing me from releasing my usual amount of Metal goodies.

I'm game.
Good luck with GC
1 of 3 things is going to happen to me soon
1. You will release your engine and it will be awsome like you say
2. You will release your engine and it will suck hardcore compared to what you said it would be
3. You won't release your enginte at all
Im hoping for 1, but i have this fealing it will be 3:(

Jake: A combanation of 1 and 3
The engines will be relesed open source as soon as I am done the next few steps. The source for the game engine will be relesed in a few weeks and after that it will be closed. No more free source :( . I don't mean to be cold but am already relesing 13 months of my metal work. I do hope to relese a space engine demo before that though(2-7 days from now). all I have left is a bit of the AI. I was stalled for a few days because of me mixing up < and > so 2 ifs canceled eachother out and the AI ships didn't move:???: . It's stupid little bugs like that that are a pain in the ass. I have one AI module ready: Breserk Fighter, attacks anyone and everyone at random and doesn't care how much health or amo he has! I could finish the AI in a hour or two because all I have to do is copy, past and modify the first one. It will have: Pacifist/Coward, side takeing fighter, go from one to another location, a specific ship guard, and ranged guard for planets.
I also have to find a better way to do colision detection. Currently I just use the same thing you would use for clickable buttons. The prob. with this is that you get bullets hitting corners where there is no ship, I have to transfer it to the sprite sys. My only worry is that 4000 sprites will be to little. Come on 2.0!

Thats exacaly what I am saying, no offense joseph, but that bragging is getting annoying, especially with no proof. Its really hard to believe your engine that nobody has seen is more powerful then coldstone.

Aw man, I really don't think my Canadian debit card will work. I'm scared to death of getting screwed, and I'm flat broke. I'd send a check, by that would have to go through my parent's account, and I don't think they'd like it very much. Sorry Jake. Maybe once you get the Kagi thing working. I just can't afford any legal crap that may come with all the international account stuff. If I knew I could risk free, I would.

I am 99% sure it will work. Are you already signed up with Paypal? if so you need to click the "Add Credit Card" link, then type in the CC number on your debit card. If you arn't then you need to click the "Not registered" link instead of logging on, then enter the CC number on your debit card.
I am signing up for kagi now, but I hate them, they take half my money on a $5.00 registeration! I Also need $50 to get my check, that means 20 $5.00 registerations! I might make a 10 dollar min for kagi.

In my experience, debit cards are useless on the internet... if you can get one working, I'd be interested to know how.

my debit card doubles as a visa credit card, and it works fine.

Umm, I took another look at the PayPal thing, and several fields aren't applicable to my card. ie: No expiration date, no verification number, just a number, my name, and the magnetic stripe.

Same here, I think you guys have a different type of debit card then me...
Mine looks EXACALY like a credit card, and works EXACALY like a credit card except it directly takes the money out of my account.
it has the little Visa logo too
