Could somebody point me in the right direction for tutorials on making games in Flash?
I'd like to try programming in a new arena

Just curious here but can you really make a 'serious' game in flash? All I have so far seen on this format are simple web games with limited gameplay. Also what is the difference between programming in flash and using director to do the same??
Thanks.

I'm pretty much a newbie with Flash but Director seems more geared towards games and includes tools for easy 3D programming.
P.S. AJ Infinity told me about flashkit.com (http://www.flashkit.com).

I was working with AJ Infinity on the FlashKit but unfortunately with the problems of Boarding School I was not able to help him with it. Contact me by e-mail if you have any questions, need help, or something like that, I would be glad to help.

ya, anytime. Actually, I am working on a open-source Real Time Stategy for flash, if you want to help or just look at some of the code so far just give me a buzz.

So just to clarify for me, why would you want to program in Director as opposed to flash, or vice versa??

I have worked with Director before I went to Flash. The two programs are really similar, the big difference between the two is that Flash uses Vector graphics, and is made from Web use. I don't think that it really matters which you use, you can program just about the same thing in both. Director has its advantages too. It really just matters what kind of program you want in the end. note: the last director i worked with was version 5, so things have probably changed a bit.

Mac users seem to like Director more than Flash (Flash is faster on the PC, anyway, and many popular Flash authoring apps that speed up Flash games, such as SWFxxl, are PC only) .Director is faster for games, but it's online load times are slow compared to Flash. Flash is good for simple games like the ones on ElectroTank.com, while Director runs the simple to advanced games on Shockwave.com. Java is used for multiplayer servers in multiplayer Flash games. Check out the Java multiplayer server for Flash, Unity (www.moock.org).
I use Flash because I grew up using Flash. :D Director was too expensive at first, but lemme tell ya, it ROCKS when it comes to speed. It's OpenGL accelerated.
Quick Note BlueAvian: What we were working on was a GDK. FlashKit.com is a popular Flash resource website.
