Since RPGs are the new fad (I personally think I started before the fad) I would like to show off my current engine that I am creating for comparison. Currently it just has so you can walk around. I worked a long time on the cool screen scrolling effect. Anyways, download is here: http://hkasoftware.com/skyhawk/SitS/SitS003.app.sit
EDIT: fixed link
requires OSX and at least an ATI rage.
screenshot: It's jesus on water! (actually it is my main character and I haven't implemented map collision detection yet :D )

Well, I don't have OSX, but the screenshot looks nice. Why need 3d for a top-down RPG? Seem's like more work for you and less compatability with low-end machines.
And those grass and dirt tiles look an AWFUL lot like the grass and dirt in SF2...

I assure you I do all my own work...
Although the main guy started out as one of the characters in the RPG char pack on idevgames, but I changed it to suit my needs.

Hmmm... wake me up when you get a full complete engine and I will come back to create my own game.

Hmm isn't it supposed to do something?
I get the opening screen with the little story..figured out holding space tells the story.
Then thats it? can't go beyond that point.
Is there a secret masonic handshake I have to give my Mac to make it work?
tried every key.
Its Karma...now I know how people must feel using my skewed level test on our engine.

ok thats more like it. It worked fine. G4 450x2+Nvidia MX.
Matt was asking about 3D....I don't see where you mentioned it.
I guess he is referring to the ATI.
ATI cards have been in Macs since....
a very long time.
The scrolling is smooth as silk by the way, your time spent paid off.

thank you, the reason he probably mentioned 3D is that I mentioned a graphics card. I use OpenGL for all my drawing. Thus the neccessity of a graphics card... but I don't leave out too many systems... I mean.. my computer is 5 years old...

*grumbles something about his Mac being too old*
Yeah, I know...OpenGL makes life easier, and I can't legit blame you for it. Ah well, I'll have a brand-spanking new one by July.:D And the lack of OSX one the type of low-ender I'm talking about makes my earlier comments quite pointless. And I know you do all your own work. But I also know you're an SF fan, so I had to point that out...hell, the fact that the title has 'Shining' makes it just too obvious.
