kiki the nano bot wants to greet the iDevGames community!
The new version includes all the contributions from the community, e.g. localizations for dutch, portuguese, swedish and spanish, a new level 'captured', a makefile for linux, etc.
thanks a lot, and apologizes for the late publishing!
Another person (not from the iDevGames community) made a very nice new title song, which unfortunately doesn't play on Mac OS X yet.
That brings me to the next point: The new version is also available for Windows. (If, by any chance, you know somebody who owns a PC with Windows on it, you could kindly ask them to test the new release :-)

nice. i love the new first few levels (and i'm stuck on 'captured'). nothing but improvements as far as i can see. i don't really understand the number in the bottom left, or the icon. what happened to life and ammo? can you not run out of either anymore?

yes, 'captured' is quite hard. it's the only new level and it's not made by me but by Niko Boehm.
the number in the lower left bottom is now the number of moves you made so far. the atom displays some kind of highscore. actually it's a lowscore ;) . every time you solve a level with less moves than the actual 'lowscore', the 'lowscore' file will be updated. if you have a difference less than 8 moves to the lowscore, the number of remaining moves is displayed as the number of neutrons around the atom's nucleus.
i thought it might be a nice feature for people who want to compete or replay some levels and search for optimal solutions.
I dumped the energy and health counter because it was used in the first and last level only, which didn't really make sense. and yes, you can't die anymore in kiki. I hope nobody is dissapointed by this :-)

I originally sent this question to the kiki-help sourceforge mailing list, but its been several days and I haven't received a response, so I thought I'd ask here.
I'm running python 2.2.2 compiled from source on Mac OS X 10.1.5, and I'm getting the white screen when I try to run kiki. Could someone provide instructions on how to get kiki to run correctly?
I remember reading on a past version of the website that the fix would involve temporarily disabling the conflicting python installation. If this is the case, is there any way around it? I have several cron jobs setup that require python hourly.
Thanks.

i am sorry that the mailing list on sourceforge doesn't work yet.
i will have a look into the mailing list configuration and try to find out why i didn't get your mail.
but now to your problem:
the most probable solution right now:
if you are not using 'english' as your default language setting, please use it for the duration of the game (adjustable in the preferences pane) or copy the file kiki.app/Contents/Recourses/English.lproj/Localizable.strings to kiki.app/Contents/Recourses/<your language>.lproj/Localizable.strings
if this is not working for you, please let me know what happens exacly (e.g. output on the console) i can't help you without more information.
in either case, i would be happy to receive more feedback here or in the sourceforge forum until the mailing list on sourceforge is working.
thanks for your interest,
your kodi
