Yay! Demonstar is now available at mac.mking.com (http://mac.mking.com). Feel free to grab the shareware version and give it a whirl. Let me know if you encounter any problems with it. :D

Um, switching to fullscreen or high resolution fullscreen inverted the colour of everythingÖ

Thanks dude :)

There is some info on the power up system but it is in Windows Help format (it's in the help file for the PC version). I'll try to convert it to PDF...

For those people that had problems with the palette in full screen mode, could you please try this version and let me know if it's fixed or not:

New version (http://www.mking.com/~paul/Demonshr.sit)

Cheers! And thanks for the positive feedback :D

Very cool. Much better than Deimos Rising (I don't know how they managed to make a shmup boring).

Three things. 1) Sound effects are a little weak and repetitive. Nothing major. 2) The blue laser used by bosses is very cheap. There's no warning! 3) It makes my game in development look bad. Stop that.

This may just be me... but I can't shoot and move diagonally up-left at the same time, maybe there should be an option for just having the shoot key always down?

Which key are you using to shoot? If you are using Z, try using the ctrl key instead and see if it helps.

I am using control :p

But now that you mention it, it works with Z.

Never mind.

lol :p

During testing I had someone have that same problem but using ctrl fixed it - the exact opposite. Very odd... :???:

purchased.

love shooters - hope they dont completely die out. Demonstar does the genre proud.

I wish it was a higher rez tho - but its gameplay that counts - and Im having fun.

I worry that unless a shooter is distributed by Ambrosia or Freeverse it will have a hard time getting enough registrations. Let us know (after enough time) if you felt it was successful and got enough of a response from the Mac community - and hopefully that you plan on porting more games.

good luck,
Codemattic

This fixes fullscreen for me. Nice game .

Is there a mail order( money order ) option for the Macintosh version? The PC games at mking.com have one, but the Macintosh order page doesn't seem to have that option?

Cool!

I'll ask about that when the guy than runs the site wakes up (stupid timezones!!) :) I'll get him to update them all too. I'll post in here when it's all up and I'll let ya know about the mail order thingy.

Cheers!

hey, I didn't realize that there was a thread here about the game :P

I was thinking, if you want some more publicity for Demon Star, try getting it put up @ macgamefiles.com, and/or e-mail insidemacgames to let them know it's been released :)

Yep, did that last night :D I didn't want to pimp it too much at first in case there was anything very badly wrong with it...

Hmmm..actually, no there isn't :( I don't think there was on the Windows version either (although I could be wrong). Something to pencil in for 1.2 perhaps...:)
