View Full Version : Question about the MacAddict CD
Great... I just accidently closed Safari, so I get to type this message again :(
Has anyone here had their shareware game on the MA CD? I am trying to get Escape onto it, but they won't respond to me! I emailed them friday about paying to get in on, they havent responded yet but I am not expecting them to until monday or so.
If you have had your game on the MA CD can you tell me
A - How much it costed
B - Your downloads from versiontracker, macupdate, ect, and how many people registered it from those sites (so I have an idea of your registeration % before MacAddict)
C - How many registerations MacAddict generated
My game Escape so far has had 40 registerations (and 10 Expansion pack registerations) with 10,700 downloads.
Any suggestions or information about your experiance would be nice.

After I had a game put on a MacAddict CD I started getting a lot more registrations. It went from no regs to about ten in the two months after it was on the CD. So it helped out a lot.
I can't tell you about how to get on the CD. They emailed me and asked if I wanted it on their CD. It was the first day I released the game, so I was pretty lucky.
I'd say I got about twenty of regs from the MacAddict CD. Thats out of like 50 total for the game so the cd almost got half of the registrations.
Thanks jSTIN. 1 more question, whats your game called so I can see how many people downloaded it so far of the download sites.

Firepong 2 was on the MacAddict CD, I got about half my emails from it (no regs because it was freeware :p )

I also had a lot of registrations from the MacAddict CD, mostly from California. There are only two ways: You can either submit your link or game to submissions@macaddict.com, but THEY decide what they take, so they may not take your game at all. OR you pay the $500, then they will take it, but it's a lot of money for just 1 game. I once had a conversation with them and it seems for the $500 a developer could also include more than 1 game, so this might be more interesting - in case you have more than 1 game ...

Not yet... but soon :). I don't mind how MacAddict charges to put big programs onto the CD, but they need to help support the mac shareware community. I think they can spare 1.4 megs, and I would at least think they can return my emails. There submission guy probably doesn't like my game, I have noticed people either give it a 1 star on VT.com, or a 5 star, not much in between.
500 bucks is way to much, the most I could afford is 100 bucks, and then I would just hope to get my money back.

Wow... I gotta go shareware too with the new Radical Rebound Revolution! Do you think paypal is necessary? or is it ok also to ask for money in snail-mail?
