I notice that Hooptie has no licence (US: "license", hah!) specified in the code. I guess it's not that important as its all for fun, but have you guys already discussed this? Is Hooptie under licence?
PB puts a copyright message on top of every file I create. Should I just delete that and leave it blank for now? Or do we want to make it GNU or Artistic or anything codified?
I'd like to have something there saying who we are, why we exist, and all of that.

Hooptie uses the MIT Licence I believe.
As for copyright, I think that you still have copyright over code you write when you release it under the GPL. If someone else changes bits, they have copyright over whatever they've written. I guess this would apply to other licences then.

I can confirm that Hooptie is indeed under the MIT licence. All files used by the Hooptie project file should be covered by it; there's a copy of the licence in the documentation folder. Hooptie also has a "credits" file that shows up on "About Hooptie" menu item that mentions which licence/copyright the game is under. Perhaps you could use that format for legalities as well. Those cover the code as well as the binary product, although perhaps that wasn't clear enough?
I suggest you remove any copyright notices from the top of every file you're using and just use an external document that covers all project files. In my opinion it is less aggressive to the reader.
I fail to see why it's important to clutter the code with that kind of information as it can be distributed elsewhere more clearly. In theory, one would have to know who you are and what you do before they download the code which should include all relevant documentation anyways..
