Hi
I've got Majic Jungle to a stage where I would really like to hear feedback on it, and I think it can be called an 'alpha version'.
There are a few buggy things that I am aware of, and there are no levels yet, but the game engine (I think) is pretty near completion. The ReadMe contains a list of known bugs.
Any bugs / gameplay ideas / interface issues etc. please let me know. Also I'm interested what frame rates you get on your system. On my 350 G3 it gets down to 8FPS at times which is bearable for this type of game, but I'd like to know what you guys get.
and for those of you that don't know, it's a game about growing marijuana, but don't let that excite you too much or put you off. It's just a game.
[edit - I should also (because of my terrible timing) mention that I am not planning on entering this in uDevGame.]
cheers

668kb requires OS X
also... it (hopefully) expires around the end of August. I'm hoping to have a beta version by then.

heh. i didn't find any problems and it seemed to run fine on my computer. (is the bottom-right number framerate? if so, mine swayed between 65 and 100)
i really like how the plants grow - that and the level of detail in the simulation aspect are i think this game's big selling points.
something about the background color of the closet or wherever the game is set kind of puts me off. maybe it could have user-selectable wallpaper?
also maybe you could have a mode where the plants are replaced by flower bushes or something -- 'potency' could be replaced by 'color' or something similar. not that it bothers me, just might be a nice option in case someone is morally opposed but likes the game otherwise ;)
all in all a surprisingly good game, and free of any bugs i could find. good work!

hey erazorhead, thanks for giving it a go. Yep the number at bottom right is frame rate. I'm really glad it was that high, what's your system?
I think I agree with you on the colour. It was a brighter yellow before, so I tried to dull it down a bit. Will continue playing around with it.
hmmm, would be good to have a 'clean' option, but something just shys me off the idea.

Hey reubert, great start to an addictive game. The plant growth cycle is awesome and very smooth, the framerate for me stays around 90 on my PowerBook G4(700MHz,256 RAM).
If I accidently plant a seedling while the budding cycle is already on, it doesn't affect the seedling. I have to turn budding off and then on to affect the new seedling. This brings me to the idea that each light should have its own budding cycle setting. This makes it easier to take care of an adult plant and a small seedling at the same time.
When choosing a pot to plant a seedling, only allow the pot graphic to be clicked. I wasnt sure what the risk thing was at first so I clicked it and lost one of my seeds
I clicked on the Donate To Charity button, and when I realised how much I was being forced to donate I pressed cancel. My risk limit dropped! So I forked over my hard earned $2000 and the limit was increased back up to the original level. A bit unfair I think!
Great game, keep up the good work.

I have fixed the budding affecting seedling bug, thanks I noticed that bug earlier, but had left it and eventually forgot about it.
I want to keep the budding cycle applying to all plants. I think it's more realistic, and adds to the skill required to advance in the game.

done, thanks.
I clicked on the Donate To Charity button.......
fixed, hopefully.
Will upload the new build shortly

really lovely. I love watching my little plants grow. I havent played enough to see the effects of breeding different plants - but that seems like its going to be neat too.
Did you use quartz or opengl? I get about 56 fps on my G4/400 tower.

thanks. I've uploaded the new build. It's smaller than the last one, I must have changed the optimiztion settings. I've slowed down time a bit, tried to make the light/panels look better, and hopefully fixed a few bugs.
