Hi,

Ok this idea might sound a little crazy but I thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone had any other ideas.

I was thinking of how to get more developers interested in helping other newbie game developers and I came up with this idea. What someone could do is create something like a Cocoa, OpenGL, 3D Hooptie game. The difference being that the sound designers, graphic artists , programmers, etc. would sell the game as shareware and share the profits (and maybe even give some of the money to Carlos :D).

The only catch would be that each programmer would have to write one or two tutorials based off of some of the source code in the game. This way other developers would become interested from reading the tutorials. Also the sound designers and graphic artists could submit sound effects, music, and graphics into the idevgames resource database.

In the end, this would give a great boost to idevgames's game resources and the profit sharing would give a great incentive to everyone to get things done.

That's an idea, but a hard sell because the source has to be somehow available to those contributing and we don't exactly want to turn anyone off. On the other hand, it might mean getting more artists on board.

Having programmers detail how their contributions work is a neat idea. However, from my personal experience on Hooptie; not all tasks are tutorial-worthy and a core of devs end up doing a majority of the work.

Well you could make up a list of tutorials that the programmers would have to choose from. Also you could give bonus money to the people who write the tutorials which would probably be the core devs anyway.

Oh well it was my crazy idea; although, maybe some other good ideas will come from it.
