Hello all,

I posted in the temp forum that the Inkubator sub-domain is back, and that I would like to see the Project move up in a big way this year.

People who want to be directly part of the maintenance/staff, please let me know.

Cheers,

I don't intend to be staff/maintainer of any sort for the Inkubator project, but you can definitely count me in to be a participant in the next project.

I've always been a bit interested in participating. Where do you sign up?

Actually, you don't have to sign up. You just download the latest from the CVS server and play around. To commit, you just contact the project manager to get write access to the repository.

That is correct, isn't it?

I don't mean to be part of the develpment team.. for that.. anyone can join. What I mean is that I need about 3 or 4 people who wish to run the site. Keep it updated, add news items, organize stuff, etc. Send me..

I have reduced the list of projects to 5, based on the votes (about 54 votes). Please visit http://inkubator.idevgames.com/ and revote so we can see which of the top five projects to proceed with.

I just visited the Inkubator site for the first time day. Very nice indeed. The colour scheme and graphic layout is very pleasing. (This is where someone tells me it is just temp and going to be bright blue :( )

An interesting selection of possible next projects. I voted for Lemmings. I hope it is a traditional 2D version if it wins and not the 3D it turned into in later versions.

If Lemmings does become the next project, then there is something I was working on a while back that may add an interesting twist.

In the other thread, someone mentioned that keeping an updated dev diary/ tutorial would benefit new developers. i'm going to agree with this one -- I really think that, though well-commented code does a lot, some code just plain needs to be broken down and explained to the newbies (something that's too much of a hassle to do in comments). in addition to some coding, this is something i would really like to help out with.

anyhoo, to reiterate what i said in the other thread, OpenGL is the way to go. :-D
(but i voted for a side-scroller this time instead of lemmings ;) )

hytmal, please send me your contact info, a password so I can set you up and account on the inkubator site.

I remember you were involved with it. Not sure what your functions was.

I do not plan to radically alter the site except for a top graphic.

I would also like to add some screen shots of Hooptie.

Not sure if my links to the playable and editor are working.

I will set up a kind of blog or diary for the site.

I am in the middle of setting up a kind of sourceforge, which inkubator will take advantage of.

Everyone look at the Contact page. I need to know WHO IS IN AND WHO DOESN'T WANT IN as far as maintaining the website. I really can't do it all myself.

Also, I took the text from the old page for ABOUT US , CONTACT US, CONTRIBUTE.
I think we need to clean the text up. Not sure if we need all 3 pages. Or if their are other pages to add, please let me know.
For example a how-to use CVS
or compile the code
or a FAQ area.

This is your section, so let me know what you want!

Hello all,

I spent about 4 hours today working on some small details on the Inkubator site. You will notice that the forum feed now only shows posts to this messaage board (it was showing all of iDGs threads before.)

I have contacted hytmal, and hopefully I can slowly hand over the site to him and the others.

I am still in need of nice screen shots of Hooptie. And someone confirm I have the latest playable posted. Perhaps some can re-compile for 10.3?

Please take a look at the link section. My hope is not to add every link under the sun, or duplicate everything iDG has, but to be selective.

If you know of worthy links, send them in. Especially popular open-source games (excluding the stuff from uDevGames).

Next weel I shall send out a PR to garner interest in Hooptie etc, etc.

Cheers

that "hand over the site" sentence there scares me. not that i'm afraid of commitment or anything, camacho ^_^.

i should say that i havent done any HTML or anything for some years, in case that is a problem. i just figured i'd be taking apart project code and making tutorials for the newbies and documenting it. i can probably do the basic webpage stuff (i'm just a little bit rusty).

well anyhoo, let me know.

No html coding is needed. Inkubator site is using Mambo CMS. So it is easy to add tutorials, content, etc.

Great.

I downloaded the source files from SourceForge and compiled a playable. The odd thing is that SourceForge has a playable but at 0.2.5 version. After compiling the code, the playable was stated as version 0.2.7. It was my understanding that 0.3 was released?!?!

We need to place the newest playable and editor on the site for people to download.

Also, a clearer tutorial on how to grab the source and compile it would be nice.

In addition, much has happened with Mac OS, so someone should check if the code is OkeyDokey.

Cheers,

Josh

In addition, much has happened with Mac OS, so someone should check if the code is OkeyDokey.I doubt anything would be broken, but it would be best to have someone with 10.3 compile and run just to make sure.

Just tested. Compiles and runs fine in 10.3.

hey what's that key-command for taking a screenshot? it's too difficult to try to use Grab and get a really good ACTION SHOT while playing hooptie ;-)
