That being said, It looks VERY realistic cause I was fooled at first glance. good job sir

I think it's time to start writing down nuggets of wisdom from Dan. Maybe publish a book, "Success by Danlab" or something.

Dan, I imagine you've answered this before, but do you make enough money to create games full-time? Or do you keep a day job, too?

(Brian nailed it on the thread in the first reply, too... but wonderful job on this solitaire, Dan, it's excessively polished and nice to use.)

Incredible. I truly don't know how you do this so quickly. Do you have a base game code framework that you use for all your games?

Do you have a base game code framework that you use for all your games? It believe he or FCCovette (sp?) said that he uses FCCovette's framework. How much did you say that framework was? :p

Just enought to create a window, the Open GL context, handle Carbon events, load JPG, PNG or TGA textures, and some security stuff that we won't be disclosing. ;)

I am using more than that for my games, which rely on a quite complex 2D sprite engine - which can be extended for 3D - that renders in either Quartz (mostly for menus) or OpenGL (QuickDraw can be done too). Dan uses FMOD for sound, and I've built my own multichannel sound player with CoreAudio.

I've created a system that reads a lot of stuff from XML files, so you can change the position of the sprites, or tell a sprite to load a certain function and animations for a mouseEnter, mouseExit, mouseDrag events, etc. It's pretty nifty.

I am selling the whole source code of Pharaoh's Game for $75. If you want to cut a few months off the development of your next games, you should really consider it. I am just not making available for free because I've put almost 4 months of hard work on building this engine, and $75 is almost what you pay for a mechanic to align your car. ;)

Sure would be nice if you allowed interested forum members to email you... ;)

You can download the game from http://pharaohsgold.danlabgames.com and open the application package to see how the resouce files are laid out.

There's a bare-bones version of my setup structure on http://webpages.charter.net/utopiaplanetia/BasicCarbonStruct.dmg (no sprite engine though).

I've turned on the forum's e-mail option. Please, try again, or just use the address on the game's web-site.

I just bought Danlab's Mahjong today. It's the best rendition I've seen, well worth the money. And I picked up Creepy Mines 2 as well! That one's a lot of fun. Hooray for smart puzzle and arcade games! They deserved my money more than Unreal 2004.

Danlab, you are an inspiration.

I don't know dude. My friends and I didn't spend all night playing Mahjong Solitarus at the last LAN party :p

that being said, the first time I tried his game, I did stay up until 6AM trying to beat turtle without reshuffling.
