I would like some feedback on Balloon Typer 2 before I start doing the press releases.

If you can try out the Mac and/or Windows version, I'd appreciate it.

Here's the link http://www.stinware.com/typer.html

Thanks.

For requirements on the webpage, it should read "Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) or better".
Most users don't know the difference between Tiger, Jaguar, or Panther and would have no clue if Jaguar is newer than Tiger or what. With the 10.2 they can at least interrogate their Apple Menu "About This Mac".

As for the game itself... well I don't think it is worth $10. Maybe $5. I think it lacks the fundamentals of learning to type words (like the home row). Which is what most people want to type. Knowing keys is great, but I don't see how you can get better at typing without being forced to type whole words.

As for the difficulty setting, I don't think this stresses the player on anything other than reaction time. I found it difficult, not because I don't know where the keys are, but because of my reaction time (possibly the choppy framerate). And I type 135WPM peak, 70WPM average.

For future versions I'd recommend modeling your game after something like Typing Of the Dead.

Hey thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure why the game is choppy. It runs fine on my 400Mhz iMac.

Anyway, I'll fix the website as you suggested. As far as the design goes, it is supposed to be a simple basic typing game, and I'm fine with that, since schools seem to like it.

Although I may lower the price back to $7. Thats the price I charged for Balloon Typer 1.

From the lack of responses, I can safely assume all those who downloaded the game are completely immersed, and have not been able to stop playing the game to post here. ;)

Or maybe it trashed everyones computer so that they cannot post.

First off, 2MB download?!?!
Then, inside of the archive the application name was spelled 'Ballont Typer 2'
Upon starting it, the whole 'User 1' 'User 2' 'User 3' thing was somewhat confusing until I figured out that they were just multiple unnamed profiles. (What, a multiplayer mode? ;) )

It was, overall, (no offense intended) boring. The balloons fly up at a constant speed, and there's nothing else to do.

Thanks for catching the spelling error.

Yeah I know 2 MB is a little big for a shareware app, but you should see some of these other games, they're almost 15 MB! ;)

Actually I agree, the game is boring, I put the first version together a few years ago when I was bored, and this is the result, a boring game. :bored: I decided to do an update since a few new schools seemed interested in it. That and people tell me, "this can be one of your best games, market it to schools."

Best game? How sad. :p

The balloons fly up at a constant speed, and there's nothing else to do.

Actually if you play the practice mode it adjusts the speed to how well your doing. Can't overlook a technical marvel like that man!

Thanks again guys, I wanted people to check it out to see if I made any stupid mistakes, and both you guys caught one! Cool.
