Hi everyone,

I'm brand new to this forum and like what you all are doing here -- this is great!

My name is John Seguin and I have a bachelor's degree in music with studies in composition from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. I have worked for Apple as both a campus rep while in school and briefly in Apple retail after graduating. I've been a Apple guy for as long as I can remember and a musican even longer.

I have directed many musicals and ensembles, written pieces for many levels of performers, interned at a commerical jingle house in Chicago and am currently interested in working with both film makers and game developers in writing for their work.

I can also do a little sound design, though I am sure there are those out there who are probably much more skilled and experience at that then I.

As I have no games to show for myself at present, I am willing to work for free to help any developer get some quality music in their game. Over the years I have amassed the equipment of a quality studio in my home consisting of a great DP G4 (of course!), Pro Tools LE, Logic Pro, Reason, Soundtrack, several sample libraries and professional monitors. All of the music I produce is of fantastic quality and fidelity.

I invite you all to my very, very young website, http://www.seguinsound.com, to listen to "samples" (the only link that works) as I am trying to get more examples up on the site and complete it soon, but I wanted to post here to get the ball rolling for me as I am very eager to get started. However, I further encourage any of you interested even in the slightest with working with me -- especially if you aren't crazy about any of the examples -- to please send me a message at john@seguinsound.com with a description of the kind of music you'd like, length, file type, etc and I will do a "sketch" for you as soon as I can as a way of proving my worth.

Let me emphasize that this is at NO cost to you -- all I ask is that you give me credit on your final product (or whatever form it winds up in) so that I might add it to my portfolio to show future clients. So, really, you have nothing to lose by contacting me and the worst that can happen is that you don't like the demo for your game that I send you and we part ways, no hard feelings.

Sound reasonable? I hope to hear from some of you soon.

Good luck with all your projects!

Welcome! I like your samples. I predict you will get a number of requests soon as people gear up for the uDevGame contest. I'm not sure if the rules prohibit you working on more than one project though, in which case you should think about who you want to team with.

I'd try to interest you in my own contest entries, past and future, but at the moment it's not looking like I'll have time to enter this year. :-( But there'll be other contests, as well as other projects.

Good luck!

Your work is great, and am most certainly interested in your services for the upcoming uDevGame contest and the entry Dr. Light and I are planning on. (I'm wondering what happens if the game[s] you help [all] win in the audio category :) ) As Matt said though, I'm not sure about how the rules of the uDG would allow/disallow your help in more than one entry (enter Carlos?). If you can "enhance" my game I would be quite grateful, feel free to drop a line to jd@staronesw.com (I trust in apples junk filter, those stupid JD (AT) staronesw (dot) com things get really annoying )

Howdy. I'm sure that in uDevGames '04 you'll get swamped with requests!

Hello from a fellow musician - I'm entering my last year of my B.Mus in Violin Performance from McGill (Canada). Actually I'm currently attending the Kent/Blossom festival in Cleveland! It's a small world...

Impressive music. Don't be surprised if you get swamped with requests by the developers here. Thanks for the interest in us small-time game developers!

Blobbo,

So are you also coding with these folks or doing music work for them?

Good luck with finishing up your degree program!

Udev game rules?

Hey!
Can anyone point me in the direction of the official rules of the UDev game competition?

Thanks--
John

John:

Just programming. I leave music at school/work! It'd be fun to work with you sometime... I might get back to you come late September or so...

Okay -- everyone. Thanks for reading my post! I currently have a game assignment for the contest so I'm all booked up for that -- but if you'd like me to help with your game that's NOT going to contest please drop me a line at john@seguinsound.com

Thanks!
