I like the fact that there is a full featured editor for both levels and graphics, and I'm a fan of lode runner... I like that you've added many of the features from the later Sierra remake, too. Doing it all in realBasic is a real accomplishment and it seems to run without any glitches. Good stuff.
Here's are some suggestions:
The control is very abrupt and clunky feeling. You should spend MUCH more time making the actual game play feel more fluid and natural. Climbing ladders is more like floating. No one can climb a ladder with one leg and one arm that fast. ;) The player should clamp on to the center of the ladder when climbing, iow.
The animation speed is 10x too fast. One of my favorite things in the game was watching the holes get eaten away... in this they just pop off.
I have no idea what your artistic skills are, but maybe you need to spend more time on the graphics or get someone else to help. Honestly, I enjoy the graphics and animation in the orginal Apple ][ version more. Maybe take a look at that version for inspiration because it accomplished a great look with 1/8th the pixels you are using. ;)
Again, this is a huge accomplishment and you've obviously spent a lot of time and have done a lot of hard work. There is potential here for a great game. More important than the graphical issues is the control. I'd focus on that next.

thanks for the posative feedback :)
Yeah the controls are kind of odd, and the ladder issue I'm working on...
Graphics.. well the main reason I even added a graphics editor is because I'm not too good at them, so I figured some people who REALLY want to change them could.
The ground shooting thing... well... I'm not actually sure how to do the animation... but I will work on it...
Again thanks for the feedback

Doing it all in realBasic is a real accomplishment...
Uhhh....... no it's not. Doing it at all is the real accomplishment, but REALbasic can create things far more complicated than REALrunner. I actually found out there's one user with over 289,000 lines of code, another 50,000 in plugin code, and he said it all works beautifully.
No, I'm not bagging on REALrunner. Eric's done a good job with it.

I didn't intend to slight REALbasic in any way. Sorry to touch on a nerve. :/
What did you think of the game, btw?

Well done. I agree with FreakSoftware's comment. "Doing it at all is the real accomplishment" You have managed to do what I suspect 50% of the forum members have not. (myself included)
