Lol, just sitting in a coffee shop and came up with this quick concept for a game and I wanted to get it out there to see what people think.

The basic gameplay is simple. The controls are like that old game for the SNES I think it was called SmashTV. It's an overhead 2D view (possibly using 3D graphics, or not. doesn't matter). You move the character around with the asdw keys and aim with the mouse. You can move in a different direction as you are shooting.

Additional gameplay:
The point of the game is to kill enemies and take their souls, using them to corrupt spirit totems which are linked together on the map. Spirit totems protect the areas around them, and you can only enter an area if the spirit totem is corrupted, or connected to a corrupted totem (like UR2k4). You start out in each map in an area that is vulnerable. Spirit healers, however, will attempt to purify corrupted totems if they are connected to an uncorrupted totem. Also, when you corrupt a totem completely, all the spirits you used to corrupt the totem will go back to their bodies and be resurrected on your side and will defend their area against the pure enemies. If they are killed, their souls may be collected by spirit healers and purified in the process of healing a corrupted totem. The goal is to corrupt the spirit center, which you can only do if you have corrupted all spirit totems that are connected to the spirit center.

In addition, there will be another soul thief that will emerge from the spirit center and attempt to destroy you.

Anyway, that's all for now. comments?

SmashTV started out as an arcade game - I put lots of quarters in that thing. Speaking of which - just earlier today I was playing SmashTV on the "Midway Arcade Treasures" emulator disk - and got to the famed 'Pleasure Dome' secret level - which I had always heard about - but wasnt sure if it was real or fiction. Of course had I done it in the arcade it would of cost a small fortune - but in emu I can keep putting virtual 'quarters' in until I finally made it.

The gameplay sounds like it could be pretty cool - is this for uDG or for shareware?

"Kill Dr. CotÈ" is already a Smash-TV type game that is being entered into uDG - but your idea sounds sufficiently different.

Ah, yes, the elusive Pleasure DomeÖ Only got there in Super Smash TV(for the SNES) and not in the arcade either. Still, it was really hard to do in SSTV(atleast for SNES), so I only managed to do it three times(once by myself, and then when playing with friends only to show that it existed).

And for the STV spirit game idea, it seems cool but with the teams and all it could get a bit confusing. Still, an intresting idea.
