I need a very simple app:
Show a window with an input-field and a button. Let the user input some text or paste it from the clipboard. When clicking the button save the entered text as a "text" file in the same directory from which the app has been run. Then quit the app with a message. That's it.
Can be coded in 10 minutes. I'll pay $50 for the job, by Paypal, as soon as the working app is delivered and tested. Anyone interested please send me a short mail and I'll mail back with the details. Important: Has to run on OS 9 and X and use the Mac OS GUI.

I can't possibly fathom the use of this app.
If only I still knew anything about Carbon.

The use of this app is to enable a "computer-idiot" who doesn't know how to save an email-attachment or how to drag a file into a folder or other basic things like that, to create a file containing a registration-code by simply copying and pasting the code from an email into the window of this app, which saves it as a file then, unlocking a game.

It needes to be OS 9? That's a pain, how many people still use OS 9? I would do it if it was OS X.

Sorry, has to work in both, it's important. Could easily be done in REALBASIC, for example, am I right?

I'd answer that, but that'd be 10 bucks. :p

Ok, I can do it the Realbasic way, I'll get started ASAP, and I'll send you a working copy rather soon hopefully(where you can provide information about if you want to change anything).

I didn't say it HAS to be Realbasic, I just said IT COULD BE DONE in Realbasic, at least that's what I think. I don't care about the language used, as long as it does what it should do.
Do you have the app from anybody now already? If not you can try this one here:
http://www.igame3d.de/TextInputSaver.sit
It was done in Runtime Revolution and features a Classic FAT version (runs on both 68K and PPC computers) and an OS X version. It's a little large though, since it's from RunRev (1.7 megs compressed) but should work. If you take my version, tell me about any neccessary changes.

Yes, this does what it should do. But it has to be ONE app which runs in both OS 9 and X, not two seperate ones, AND there's no way it may use 1.7MB. 100kb should be ok, I can't blow up every downloadable game by 1.7MB. Why is it so large?
It's so large since it is made with the Runtime Revolution environment. I can code you a much smaller one in CodeWarrior but that takes some more time, maybe an hour or so.
I doubt RealBasic applications are under 100K as well. I'll give it a shot in Codewarrior, ok?
Here is the smaller, better-looking faster version of it written in CodeWarrior that runs on Classic and OS X. Compressed with NIB-file its 31 K, uncompressed 108K. That's as small as I can get it!

This is what you want!

Nah,
I meant anger about it being OS 9. It's not towards you or anything, just that I don't know carbon, or any other os 9 compatible language.

Not over 100 K, remember? :p
(and Alex, you almost sounded like carbon was a language :p ... darn - I'm annoying today)

Yes, that looks fine. Mail me your email so I can mail you the details (text and filename).

Yo, I use Carbon "API" in all my programs I could have done it in one night.
AND I would have done it for free. (no joke)
I really don't like programming with poeple telling me what to do because I program for a hobby
BUT if you need a 9/X version then Carbon "API" is the way to go.
Be Cool,
